MSBEARGP
Just got back from Lexington. All of the following courses were $35 or less with cart; very reasonable replay rate and great value. UK (Big Blue and Wild Cat) : fast greens on both courses, but Wild Cat had recently undergone aeration and sand application. Number 13 fairway was complete deadpan and torn up, many deadpan/rough areas around greens, but fantastic topography. Some great holes on both courses, water comes in play. Kearney Hills : wide open, good condition, but noisy from nearby highway. Cherry Blossom : easier than UK courses, but not a pushover. Well manicured everywhere. My favourite. Boone's Trace : well conditioned, interesting holes, some are wide open, some require adapt shot making. The favourite of my buddies, probably nomber 3 for me. ALL courses are worthwhile considering. You cannot go wrong with any of them. Great value!
Joey East Coast
Glad you enjoyed it, mate. As a resident of Lexington, I can say that you barely broke the surface of quality courses here in the Bluegrass. Kearney is a favorite of mine and considered the "crown jewel" of our municipal courses. Cherry Blossom is owned by Toyota, which has a huge manufacturing plant in Georgetown. Next time your down this way give me a shout and I will hit you with some recommendations. Cheers! 1 Quote Shredder Stand Bag / TP SLDR S Mini 16* / Pro DHy 18* / Baffler 7w 20* / King F6 irons 5i-GW / J15 54* / Sierra 101-Soft / Z-star balls / all shafts regular flex / Lamkin Crossline Ace 3GEN oversize grips
PlaidJacket
I have some interest in this topic as me and my golf trip buddies might consider a Bourbon Trail themed golf trip next year. However, we want to figure out a way to play Valhalla or it might be a no-go. 1 Quote My Sun Mountain bag currently includes: 771CSI 5i - PW and PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges EXS 10.5*, 929-HS FW4 16.5* Willimette w/GolfPride Contour
MGoBlue100
I've played the last two years in Lexington with buddies of mine. (1/2 from MI, 1/2 from SC; meet in the middle) Big Blue and Wildcat definitely our favorites. Boone's Trace right there as well. We have not played Cherry Blossom, may have to add that to our rotation. A few others we have played and like: Old Silo near Mt. Sterling, (not a top end course, but fun, especially to start off a weekend trip) and Gibson Bay in Richmond (Quite a few interesting holes, and the halfway house is an old horse barn). We'll be headed up in May, hope the weather is spectacular!! 1 Quote "Where'd it go?" "Right in the Lumberyard..." If you're looking for stand-ins in the area, I would recommend Houston Oaks in Paris, Griffin Gate in Lexington (recently renovated), and Golf Club of the Bluegrass in Nicholasville. 2 Quote Shredder Stand Bag / TP SLDR S Mini 16* / Pro DHy 18* / Baffler 7w 20* / King F6 irons 5i-GW / J15 54* / Sierra 101-Soft / Z-star balls / all shafts regular flex / Lamkin Crossline Ace 3GEN oversize grips
fozcycle
Don't forget to try Duckers Lake just east of Frankfort. Great hilly track! There also is Juniper Hills in Frankfort, the many I grew up on!
