Moecat
Ok, so this RUMOR is one of those "heard from a friend of a friend" deals ... specifically, my friend who knows someone on staff with Nike (PGA Tour? Executive? Sorry, I didn't get that level of detail). Basically, Nike will make Tiger dump his Scotty for a custom Method instead. Nike is shelling out the bucks, and after this whole "bimbo-gate" fiasco, it actually has the leverage to make such a demand. Do any of you think this is realistic? mainuh
Only way I believe this is if Nike has Cameron custom mill about 20/30 for Tiger to try out. To tell you the truth I would not be at all surprised if Tiger had an ownership position with the Nike Golf brand part of the company similar to what Greg Norman has had in the past with his companies. Nike would not have a golf brand without Tiger and the idea that they now have the upper hand as to what he plays I don't buy. rob Quote I Can't Help It If I'm Lucky... TWshoot67
Not happening! Sorry a guy who's been using the same putter to win ehem 13 MAJORS....well your friend is like one of those other guys who said Tiger was in Mexico getting his face and teeth fixed that's why we never saw him for so many months. jamo
How exactly does Nike has the leverage for it? Tiger is a billionaire. Today, Tiger does not need Nike. In the past, maybe, but not now. Nike is shelling out the bucks, and after this whole "bimbo-gate" fiasco, it actually has the leverage to make such a demand. Do any of you think this is realistic? I do think it is realistic. If I recall correctly, he switched to the new Nike ball in 2001 - when was playing great with the Titleist ball. Nike has never been very serious about the putter category until the Method. He has used the same putter for what, 12 years? at some point he will try a new putter. And, to be honest, he would be a great putter with no matter what he uses. He putted great with his Ping Anser 2 before he switched to Scotty. I am not saying that I believe this rumor, I just think that he will switch at some point. He has always been loyal to Nike (for good rea$on$), but them standing behind him in his darkest hour will only further that loyalty. Moecat
Well for one thing, this is not a rumor that I started. I'm just posting what other people have stated Do people really think Tiger is a billionaire? After expenses for private jets, yachts, mansions, lost revenues from sponsors who have bolted ... oh yeah ... and TAXES and LAWYERS, I somehow doubt it. And Nike is a $30+ BILLION company. So yes, in the long run I tend to think that Nike could afford to lose Tiger more than the other way around. Check out the photo below ... not doctored in any way. Could simply be a special line of retail "TW" Method putters in the making, of course. Time will tell.
Viper12
Count me as another saying it is not going to happen. Tiger doesn't like to change and I'm still not convinced their putters are top notch as of yet.
GolfBagCheck.com
let's just say that, if we learned anything in the last 3 months, anything is possible. there were a lot crazier rumors about tiger that ended up being true. if he wasn't faithful to his wife and mother of his 2 kids, what makes you think he would never cheat on Scotty? JLasvegas
I don't think it'll happen any time soon. Tiger LOVES that Scotty. I dont think he loves anything but himself as for the Putter only time will tell. We have all seen him bag things from Nike over the years that we thought he wouldnt, we never expected him to lose the 970 3 wood or ever put a 5 wood in the bag
mcbush25
I think anything is possible. I think it will be hard to pry that Cameron out of his hands, but if Nike can get a Method putter that Tiger likes and he strokes it well you could possibly see it happen. IDRIVEFAR
i hope he doesnt switch. if tiger were playing TM or Titleist he would probably have jacks record by now. i have given nike golf equipment several chances over the years and am disappointed every time. have had 3 drivers with a cracked face. (ignite, sq, sq sumo).
NGage
I won't be surprised if he does make the switch. If he can change to their ball, no way he can't make the change to their putter. Plus, IIRC, he was spotted last year practicing with one prior to one of the tournaments. Not to mention that The Method putter has gotten all kinds of good press/pub...even from non-Nike players. The Golf Hound
Not the first time I heard this rumor. Tiger is always experimenting. Maybe he will stick with the Scotty after all is said and done. Remember last year when Tiger was testing shafts? Nobody thought he could ever even think about moving from a Diamana. Never say never. What difference does it make anyway? Whatever he plays will not be available in the shop.
