One of the best features of the ES14 is being able to review shot data on my iPad by range session.

If it gives me numbers like that, I'll take two. Ha

Seriously, that's good info. Pretty much everything I'd need. Do you feel those numbers are pretty close to what you've seen on some of the higher end units when you've been on them?

Smash factor and spin were awful but more than likely due to crappy range balls. Will get better numbers tomorrow when I get to the range at my club and get to hit some decent range balls.

They can be used indoors as well for the ES14 and the SC200 that I have. They get the flight in the first several feet and t calculates from there.

Bringing this topic back to life as I spent a lot of time pondering these again over the weekend.   I did some more reading on the SC200 and it sounded pretty good, but seeing Jmikecpa's screenshot above again, shows how good the ES14 is.

Any more recent thoughts from anyone?

After having spent some time using a launch monitor, the biggest things that I would want to see are distance, face angle and path. Those are the things that I really need to work on to be more effective playing golf. Seeing that information has helped me to figure out issues. Things like smash factor and spin are nice for fitting purposes but not sure how I would apply to practice

I agree with the metrics you mention as to a good tool for improving your swing.

I don't think the lower priced models I'm looking at ES14 or SC200 track face angle or path.   Mostly just ball speed, club head speed, smash factor (for driver) and carry distance.  For me getting ready to go into a new set of clubs I think learning my actual distances on extended range sessions would be good.

Also I like the practice mode of SC200 where you can set a distance, say 160 yards and find out how many times out of 10 or so that you hit your 6 iron or 5 iron that distance, to know if it's reliable or one of those "one time I hit my 6 iron 180 yard" type things...

I am with you on the distance practice. At that point I don't care about speed, launch, or smash, just how far I carry the ball. If the monitor provides accurate numbers it would be a great practice tool. Affordability is the benefit because the information I am looking for isn't easily obtained in a reliable manner without significant cosr

I did watch an online review from a PGA Teaching Pro who said he had it up against his $20,000 LM and the distances were literally almost identical on a consistent basis, so that's promising.

Still liking the ES14. Gives me enough data to be helpful and easy to use and set up.

I'm trying to talk the wife into letting me get a skytrack. If not the ES14. Skytrack would let me "golf" through the winters.

Just tell your wife you've gotta use the LM for your JPX review since the cost is already offset. It might as well be free!

Here's my hot tip for the day. Keep an eye on this auction:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/152646586753

I'd get down on it if I had liquid cash.

Ha Ha. I think I already used that logic for buying the new I phone 7plus last week. Have to have one to take good pictures.

But in truth, it's not really an issie as we don't usually questuon each other about purchases. Granted neither of us have bought a Porsche or anything like that. Although a few years ago I did drive home in a new SUV, when I told her I was just going to stop and look at some new models to see what's out there.

That did get a raised eyebrow look. Ha

The ES14 works well with an iPhone 7 Plus. Just saying.
