Just bought a new set of glide wedges, and although I love the non-tapered, longer grips that come standard, I like the consistency of having the same feeling grips on all clubs (I use GP Tour Wraps on everything.) I thought I might have a go at regripping the Glide wedges, but building up the grip to reduce the amount of taper. I would lose the benefit of the longer grip, but I feel that's a trade-off.

Anyways, anyone else play with their wedges like this? How much tape do you tend to use? Any other pros/cons I'm missing (I realize the dyla grips are heavier.)

The longer grips on the markings on them were my favorite things about Ping wedges

I think they're a great idea, but I actually think it's the taper, or lack thereof, that I enjoy the most.

You might want to try the next size up in the same model grip then stretch it onto the shaft.

I think he's asking if he can put 4 wraps under the bottom hand. (Are you?) Can he?

Hahaha, I guess what I'm asking is — is extra tape on the bottom hand going to give a similar feel to the DylaGrip, and, has anyone else here tried that specifically on wedges? What was their experience like?

I was thinking this too. The mid-size with some extra tape might give the feel I'm looking for.

Experimenting with different size grips and different number of layers of tape under the right hand is something I tend to do until I find the perfect combination. I recommend experimenting on your favourite wedge with a midsize grip. Remove it after the initial install and test, then build it up for the right hand until you find the feel you are looking for. Then go ahead with the remaining wedges to match.

I like that the new Hogan wedge grips are longer than standard to allow for gripping down for half shots.

Yes, this is the same with the Ping grips, but the Ping grips have cut down significantly on the amount of taper. After using the Ping grips for a few rounds I decided that it was the lack of taper, not the extra length, that I loved the feel of (I choke down on the grip, but don't require the extra 1/4" to do it.) Long story short, I've added five wraps at the bottom of the grip, up to one at the top to even out the grip's natural taper. Looking forward to trying them out, but the feel in my hands is fantastic.
