Our corporate office has one in the employee lounge area. Apparantly it's not uncommon at all for people to be there on a Saturday in the winter, one guy saying to another..."you told the wife you had to go to the office as well...huh?" Lol

Well they claim some pretty good planning sessions happen during time with a co-worker on the simulator.

I'm assuming the planning isnt where to take their spring gold trip

I need to come work at your corporate head quarters or make a career change to do anything relating to golf. They say to do the thing that brings you joy. Well I'm not good enough to be a pro. Guess I'll have become the superintendent. I'd make sure to put the Grounds Keeps tips published daily.

I'll put my 2 cents in here and say golf outside is better than any "golf" game inside. Some sports are better on a simulator some are not and golf is one of them.

I've tried a simulator once and that was enough. I found that if I can't see real ball flight it just isn't the same. Something about the break in between shots via walking or riding in a cart. Plus I like the downtime during the winter. Al, you have fun in that sim though man 👍

It really is true.  I've only been here at the course for not quite two years, but there has not been ONE day in that time, where I dreaded coming to work.  I litteraly love the job I do and the company I work for.    My only regret is i didn't do it 15 years ago, when I had the opportunity at that time.   But better late than never.

Playing golf on a simulator is like acting in an R rated movie versus real porn.

Just when I think, you couldn't possibly have another one liner that I hadn't heard...LOL  You never disappoint.

I just read an article that a certain company thinks virtual golf will be more prevalent than real golf.

- Alan

I read a similar article saying that in Korea, this is the preferred method of golf among the 20 somethings. One of the primary reasons stated was the time savings. If it gets the young folks playing I am all for it (I feel the same way about top golf which is golf's version of a bowling alley) but like most everyone else here, part of the appeal is getting outside and experiencing the course and nature.

Simulators have a few things going for it. Once you pay you're done, you can quit and come back anytime, plus no weather. Obviously a golf course offers a real challenge, but a simulator would probably cut my on course time by a good chunk if I do ever make enough to buy one.

There are definitely advantages to a simulator, especially if the weather isn't cooperating :) but weather is one of those added factors in golf. Would be awesome to have an in-home simulator. I'm pretty sure Carolina Golfer 2 would be at my house every night having a beer and playing pebble beach, lol.

Well, I have never even seen a simulator let alone played one so I'm curious as to what it's like. How do you putt for instance? If there's an obstacle in the way do you rotate the screen? Is the lie always exactly the same? It seems fun in the sense that video games are fun but I don't know if I wold consider that golf.

I do go to top golf everyone and then and yes, Top Golf is awesome! It's also not golf but it's golf like and my wife and kid can come and hang out. Basically, top Golf is teeing off every shot while inside a bar. Not a bad way to play!

I practice sometimes at an indoor range with GC2 monitors. It's a good place to practice, but I can tell you that the monitors are not an accurate representation of the actual ball flight. I'm sure they are close, but at an outdoor range the balls fly much differently. I'm sticking with real outdoor golf. That cannot be replaced in my opinion.

Try and find one. If you get a good one the data can be useful.

Actually, are there simulators that tie in putting? I thought simulators were more for the irons and woods?

I consider myself fortunate to have a GC2 in my shop, so I can exercise and practice in the winter and lousy weather.

That said, it's not golf.

Is the GC2 as accurate as I see on the YouTube? I mean the price alone would lead me to say yes. I've never used one.

The results on the GC2 compare favorably with the results I got on Trackman at my fitting this week.  I was fortunate to obtain a used GC2 from a business closing a few years ago.

I am buying a new house very soon. A sim will be there on day one (SkyTrak). Exactly for days like today. 10" of snow and blizzard warning....

I will use it almost daily for a practice range in the summer, and sim play with friends in the winter.

There is no spoon.
