I don't think I've ever tossed a club, but I have slammed a club or two into the ground twice, making a "slight" hole in the teeing area when I was much younger.  I did fix it and haven't done it since.  Really surprised the driver shaft didn't snap in two after the ground slamming it took.

I sent my driver on a ride once as a kid. I was playing like a mad man, hit 2 in the drink on the 16th. Ended up with a 75. Triple, Par, Double finish.

Breathe. Golf is full of crappy shots, just gotta forget about your bad ones and focus on the one at hand.

 

As far as a story, I was playing a scramble with a few friends and one guy, who is fairly good, got into a bit of a pickle. Hit his driver to the right side of the fairway, behind some trees. Tried to punch it out two, maybe three times and hit trees every time. He then proceeds to launch his iron into the tree, breaking it in half. I was pretty funny, couldn't help but laugh.

That's great!

If you're a 20, tell yourself you have 20 "bad" shots to play with. As you make a "bad" shot, say ok I've still got 19 to play with. This sense of a cushion keeps one bad shot from feeling like a round killer. I also remind myself if every shot was perfect I'd shoot 54. Unrealistic expectations steal your joy.

I'm an 18 Hcap at age 66 with a shattered left wrist and have to wear an ankle boot with a bunch of Velcro straps because my ligaments don't hold my ankle in place. But I'm out there playing 3 or 4 times a week.

 

Last week on the straight par 4 #16 hole, I pulled my drive, hit a tree about 150 out and it bounced into the drink. I dropped and hit a stinger down the fairway.....well no, it pulled hit another tree, bounced back and bounced all the way down the cart path to just in front of the tee box.......I took a swig of my flask(Wild Turkey Honey Sting) a deep breath and then got to the green laying 6 and made the putt for a 7.

 

You take a breath, maybe a swig of your flask, and move on. Always just concentrating on the shot at hand.

Kick your bag, slam your clubs, throw them clubs - far, break em, swear loud and just overall vent. Move on to next shot.

I'm in this guy's camp. I know there's a school of thought that says immediately forget about it. That does not work for me. I need a moment to decompress before moving on to the next shot. For me it's a quick post shot routine where I make a swing and visualize the correct result.

A buddy of mine (who no longer plays) was a notorious club tosser. After slicing his drive - again, he hurled his driver and it landed in a tree about 30 feet up. He looks at me and says "toss your driver up there and knock it out of the tree"

uh, no. He was truly upset with me for not throwing my driver in the tree.
