Best Golf Towel

... I am not one to use gimmicks or accessories. I always used a white athletic towel I draped over an iron head. About 6 years ago at the PGA Show I was given a Frogger towel to review. I was skeptical but gave it a shot. To be honest, I was more impressed with this simple towel than anything I have seen in my 10 years going to the show.

... A 2 ply towel with a gore tex layer in-between. So you wet the inside of the towel, and you can really soak it as the gore tex layer keeps the outside of the towel dry. Playing in hot and windy conditions the inside of the towel will stay wet for the entire front 9. I don't use a glove and wipe my grips before every shot so the Frogger is one of my most valuable pieces of equipment. Wipe the grip on the wet inside, then wipe dry on the outside and I have a tacky grip. Of course it works great with irons as well. Again, wipe grooves clean on the wet inside and dry off on the outside. In rainy/wet conditions you can do the opposite. Leave the inside dry while the outside gets wet, so you can dry your grips on the inside that stays dry thanks to the gore tex player.

... I have two, a red and black one and I rotate them when I play. Got one for the Mrs and my son too and both agree, it has become essential for their rounds when it is hot and/or windy.  Nothing worse than wetting a towel and having it dry out in a few holes. My first two lasted 5 years before becoming stiff and worn out. Not a bad life span for $29.99.

I learned something new today.

I like the idea of the Amphibian towel by Frogger but I'm still not sure how it works. It appears in the video that you pour water between the two layers. Is that correct?

I'm always struggling to keep a towel wet for more than 3 holes out west here in Texas. It's dry as a bone. I guess I'll have to give one a try.

... Picture it as two towels, both two layers and a gore tex membrane in-between the two layers. Those two towels are sewn together on two sides leaving two sides open. So it is actually 4 layers with a gore tex membrane between two of the layers. I either lay it down on a water fountain and just run water on the inside of one layer then flip it over and do it again on the other side. Or just pour a cup of water inside coating the edges. Sounds more complicated than it is and once you have one in hand it is pretty intuitive.

... But yea, it will be a life saver in that huge fan you call Texas and stay wet much longer than an exposed wet towel. We get a ton of wind here in Chicago but it is gusty which creates it's own problems but you can hit between gusts sometimes. Very different than when I played in Texas and it was just steady and relentless.

The Frogger is a great towel.  I had one last year for the first time, and of course as I always do, lost it after like two weeks.   I need to get another one.

I have that Frogger towel and it's pretty cool. I use it off the course sometimes as well, when I'm cleaning clubs instead of grabbing a bowl of soap and water.

I like the frogger, but I'll second the Club Glove.  Especially the mini towel that you can stuff in your back pocket that comes with it.  That sure beats carrying a giant towel to the green to clean your ball.

I have to agree that the amphibian towel is excellent and really does work as advertised. I recently got one as a gift this season and it is fantastic at staying wet in the heat and wind.

It is a square with two adjacent sides sewn shut. Like chisag said, you can just poor water into the open side and slosh it around to really wet the inside layer. I was skeptical but it really is a nice little accessory.
