For mid to high handicappers

Curious what kind of range do you see in your game, I.e. If you're a 24 handicapper is your score plus or minus 2, 3 4, etc.

Range, hmm really depends on the season. Usually stays within 2-3 and that's because of my wonderful putting skills.

 

Sorry, miss read I'm around 6-7. But I was a 15+ not too long ago.

Would be surprised to see ranges that tight. Most high handicaps I know legitimately have a 20+ stroke spread in their high to low range. I took a look at my own scores for last year and my spread as a 1 hdcp was 68-84. That's 16 shots apart and I know I am fully capable of shooting either one of those scores. We poor amateurs are just not terribly consistent

Yeah. What Grumman said. Take last night for example, as a 17 i shot 43 on the front and 53 on the back. Felt like a 10 cap on one half and a stark beginner on the second.

 

My 18 holes varied from 85 to 107 in the past 12 months. With, i'd say 70% of them being 94 to 102.

I don't know what my handicap is. I average 84 through  the season with a few clunkers thrown in as well as a few high 70's. I can go 4-5 rounds and shoot low 80's then, do the same and shoot mid /high 80's.... and the dreaded 90 something, just because...lol. Basically, I'm just not very good... or consistent.

I'm running round a 16.5 and I can shoot low 80's to 105. But my range as of late has been low 90s to 105. I like to spread the wealth, lol

I know for me at a +2 I had a few tournament rounds of 66. And 2 rounds at 80. That's 16 shots. It all depends on the day.

Thanks everyone now I feel better (and maybe won't get so mad at myself). I would get upset when i couldn't consistently shoot the same or get better. I now know that there's a greater variance in scores than I ever considered.

As a 9 HCP I can shoot 73 or 88.  Remember, your handicap is your potential, so you will always have more scores higher than your index than lower.

My last 20 competitive rounds range from 74 to 88. The 88 was with my once a year holiday set, so it may have been a bit lower with normal clubs.

I had a couple good rounds at the start of last season and even by the end of the season was still at 15 because I had 2 or 3 good rounds at the start of the season. Typically 90-95 shooter

On the golf course, I suffer with MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder).   I don't know which version of me is going to show up.   The good round personna; the average round personna; or the it looks like I've never played before personna.   They are genuinely a diverse rather varying group and I have no control over which one shows up.

I play off scratch to a plus and my low round last year was 66 and my high was 89 (the 89 was in 40mph winds). Generally speaking I am am in a range of 2 shots on either side of my index. I would think mid to high caps would not be as consistent as a low cap but that may not be the case. I play with a guy that is a 15 and generally shoots right around his cap.
