Bumped into Brad Faxon....again

So I'm on a flight this morning and Brad Faxon is on the plane. Second time in about a year we've been on the same flight out of Providence. I'm not a stalker so I let him be.

 

I've bumped into Tom Watson twice as well. Both times in bars. Once at O'Hare and once in a bar in downtown Kansas City.

 

I'm curious what pro golfers you've seen away from the course or a golf related event?

I haven't had luck like that. Closest I've bumped into anyone is a full sized poster cutout of Tom Watson when he was promoting his own wedges at a local store, lol.

Great thing about flying in and out of Providence - you never know who you'll run into. Is he playing in the CVS Charity Classic this year? I think my company has an amateur team.

Away from the course, (Kinda) I drove Fuzzy Zoeller to the airport after the US Senior Open a few years ago, i was on the transportation committee.  it was a fun filled 40 minute drive!!

I see Bill Haas once or twice a year at the airport in Greenville, SC.  Funny that I've never seen his Dad, Jay.  (He must fly private.)

I read he had the lowest putts per GIR in PGA history one season. I guess the "Faxon " makes sense.

Same three days in VA I met Vijay in valet, Phil and Bones in a hotel elevator and Chris DiMarco at the Cheesecake Factory. I have my business cards signed by Vijay and Phil and a bar menu signed by DiMarco. My wife had them framed and I think they are in storage somewhere.

Ran into "The King" Arnold Palmer @ a Walmart here in Wichita

I'm thinking phil must have had a huge smile when he saw your business card. He was probably already a VIP Member of some sort with you....,and probably many others.

I was working for E&Y as the time in their audit practice. I think he was a bit nervous of a large gentleman in a sleeveless shirt cornering him in the elevator for an autograph. Not something he expected at the Ritz Carlton.

Ritz Tysons Corner? I figured that in your post. I almost went to work for that property about 15 years ago. But I honestly didn't think I could say "My Pleasure" sincerely enough 150 times a day. I'm being serious. I'm more of a casual "No problem sir/ma'am. Glad to help" type person. Even though I love customer service, I didn't think I would fit in too well.

I was attending a conference in Phoenix one year and we had a tournament at the TPC Scottsdale Champions course.  After we played, I had lunch with Tom Weiskopf.  

 

A few years ago my wife and I went to Palm Springs for our 2-week golf vacation at the same time as the CareerBuilder Challenge, then the Humana Challenge.  We were having dinner at LG's Steakhouse sitting at the table next to Rory Sabbatini and his wife.  I always thought he was an a$$ but he was very pleasant in our conversation.

it's a beautiful hotel, I spent a night there before my interview to experience it. First class service, and I enjoyed a nice scotch in the bar.   Although if I had gone to work for them, I'm pretty sure I would have gained 80 pounds having the Cheesecake Factory inside the same mall, and being able to have access to it everyday...LOL

There's customer service and then there's scripted/non authentic statements. Not saying that's the case for the Ritz but when I worked retail sales I hated having to say an exact thing like that. I'm like you CG2, I'm more laid back and hated sounding like a robot.

Brittany Lincicome is a member of my club so I've seen her on the range, on the course, in the parking lot and in the bar. We waited on Jim Furyk when he bought Pizza and beer at our church's booth at Tropicana Field.

In the 5 years that the club hosted the then "Futures Tour", a couple of my pro-am partners made it to the tour, but they didn't last long.  

 

Unfortunately, Erica Blasberg is an extremely sad and upsetting story.   On Monday and Tuesday, some of the players liked to play with the members for some local knowledge.  I had the genuine pleasure of a round with Erica.   As many know, she was an extremely attractive young lady and her personality was even more attractive.   A couple of years or so afterwards, she committed suicide.  Needless, to say, it was upsetting.   While our time together was brief, I would never have figured her for such an action--such a waste, so so sad.
