For me, and I think this is fairly common, lack of extension towards the target occurs because my hips have stopped rotating.  If the hips stall, the shoulders stall, and the left (lead) arm has to fold.  You might try getting some slo-mo video and see what you think about your own swing.  OR if you're playing well, don't over-analyze, just go play.

The post I quoted was my swing video from a couple weeks ago, I just use the built in slow mo from YouTube. My old swing coach used a tracking harness on me that measured a lot of things including hip rotation and I was always good there. In fact, we got everything "in the green" which meant they were really happy with my swing but I've never been able to extend. I guess it doesn't matter, I just hate seeing it on video haha.

EDIT...I didn't see that @DaveP043 had already mentioned what I had written...

Josh, you've got a good swing man.  If you really want to hammer down and nit-pick, your left arm chicken wings at extension; in your case it's your upper body rotating faster than your lower body.  I'll ask the more important question, are you happy with how you're hitting it?  If so, then take your own advice and "just play" Oh and one more thing...you're position at the top is fan-freaking-tastic.

This is why the vast majority of us should never try to evaluate our own swings.  We tend to pick up on things that aren't problems at all, or things that aren't problems of themselves but are symptoms of a completely different problem.  Swing diagnosis is a real skill, one that most of us just don't possess.  Good luck to you!

Honestly I can do whatever I want with the ball. I used to have a different swing (still chicken winged it at extension) and didn't have full control over my game but now I can hit any shot I want. 8/9 GIR last time out. I'm definitely not going to tinker with it, just don't like seeing it haha. And thanks, I've had more than a few people tell me they're envious of my position at the top.

For some reason it wouldn't let me add text to the original post. Here is my swing. I worked hard to stop swaying over the ball and get better rotation. No lesson just recording myself for feedback and watching videos from Clay Ballard and using slow practice swings to get the right feel.

Haven't posted in here for a while. Generally like this swing, though I caught the ball just a hair fat. It's fun to look back on my old swings in this thread and see improvements.

Impact position from a year ago and from last week. I feel like I'm getting my hips around more and generating more club head speed with less "arm swinging".

Many of you have read I've been taking a series of lessons at a nearby GolfTec .. I was fortunate get paired with a really nice and very extra super patient  coach .. and after several months of effort my iron swing, while still very much a work-in-progress, is starting to show up more often out on the course.

Not a whole lot to change. It is tough to see clubhead throughout the swing but overall it is a very solid move.

I tend to really lose it right or hit a weak cut and I think it's just when I get out of sequence and spin open too fast. Speed isn't my issue, it's keeping things in check and maintaining the right tempo.

Reason I asked about ball flight was your body movements look like an inside out path however you "hold" the clubface open. Do you hit a true fade or more of a push fade? My definition of true fade is ball starts left of line and moves back towards it. If I hit a fade I start it right of line and it goes right, push fade. But I am very inside out path wise. Your path does finish well left, which has been my goal.

... As always I am a little reluctant to give advice off a video but since you axed.   Your practice swing is programming you to come underneath from the inside and hit up on the ball. You have a really nice swing and probably overcome that tendency most of the time with good hand eye contact but when you miss it will probably be a push right. I’d love to see your practice swing come in more descending with hands ahead like you are driving the ball into the ground and shoulders more square to the ball with the feeling that you are staying down and through the ball or covering the ball with your chest. When that starts to become part of your actual swing you will lose the fade and have a more penetrating trajectory. This really should not change your plane or tempo which are both excellent, just more of a mental change from hitting up to hitting down or straight through the ball and with your ability the physical change will follow.

Early extension has been an issue lately as can be seen here. Such a hard hard characteristic to get away from. Led to basically a slice here but in reality 5 yards left of the green isn’t the worse. I will crack the early extension one day. 
 

the sound is enjoyable however.

Working on a few things at the range today. I'm realizing a lot of my issues still boil down to letting my forearms roll the club back inside. Focusing on letting my hands work back and not around, keeping the club head outside of hands at parallel.

Another thing I'm working on from an old lesson is feeling like I pick the club up a little more, getting a little more wrist set earlier in the swing. Else I pull myself off the ball and get stuck on my backside.

This is a good swing where I did both well!
