Post Your Swing

Recommended Posts

Dayuuuummmmm good looking swing cuz!

Ay, thanks brotha!

The quality for me was insanely good. Looked like 1080 @ 60 fps

You might have caught the better one. I edited the post and put in a higher quality one, hopefully that fixed it.

The bum shoulder is still causing some stability issues at both the top and at impact. But my setup and tempo are working toward normal. Still much rehab and dirt digging to be done but the progress feels good.

Thanks pards! After my crash at the end of last year, on top of a whole mess of other unrelated crap, I couldn't even get my right hand on the club. For better or worse, my general outlook on life is inexorably linked to my golf game and I was feeling sooo low. Because short game was all I could work on for awhile, I've managed to post pretty normal scores but my swing still feels like a mess. The long layoff has made me appreciate all this game has to offer that much more.

I know what you mean. I took a long break as well (thankfully not due to injury) but I'm so glad I found the game again. Only problem now is that I want to try all the new shinies that I see everywhere.

Hoping for a quick recovery!

I'll take any comments or suggestions gladly. I've also got these posted to Hudl Technique individually.

Generally speaking, I'm decent with my irons and long but inaccurate with my driver.

That's not surprising. You're a bit steep and a bit over the top. That's not necessarily bad, you can Bruce Lietzke your way around all day. But it does indicate a player who will likely be better hitting irons off the ground than sweeping a driver off a tee. I'm guessing you hit lots of nice little fade iron shots but can miss with the driver both dead pull or slice if the face gets too open. I don't know that I would overhaul it or anything, if it's repeatable you probably know what you can or can't do pretty well.

That's a really nice strike and nice video. What app did you use for the trace?

Which way is your miss with the driver?

Gauss nailed it. Lately my miss has been pull hooks hitting the ball off the heel. A "good" shot is usually a block.

Any ideas for drills to help with coming over the top?

I also wonder a little bit if a different head/shaft combination would help me out. Would like to fix swing issues first though.

I was having the same miss a while ago. Getting steep too. Got on the impact bag, it helped through out the entire bag. I'm not a pro, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

When I turn back I point my left shoulder at the ball, my backswing stops at about the 3/4 mark, or at least looks like it.

Then I try to replace my left shoulder with my right shoulder on the downswing. More of a thoracic (is that right?) upper back, core and leg fire. Took my arms right out of the swing.

Check out impact bag drills. They helped me out a lot.

You could bump the ball forwars about 2 balls on the driver too.

*But see a Pro for the best results.

So I took the advice from Plaid in another thread and got the Michael Breed book on video analysis. Haven't made it too far into it but I've got a few takeaways to apply.

1. Think I'm standing too close to the ball. My arm angle at address is way too wide.

Edit: Drew the wrong lines. This angle is one that's supposed to be close to 90 and it's not too bad:

2. I'll try your other tip about moving the ball forward a scoche. Somehow it always works its way back in my stance and I have to pull my arms in to get to it.

Edit: In light of newer information, the ball position isn't too bad as it should truly line up with my front arm pit (on driver swings). Like everyone says, maybe forward a ball or two.

3. I fight this problem throughout the bag of taking it back too far. I should stop here:

But end up here:

Just unleashing your inner Bubba. Make a solid turn from there and I bet you pick up some speed. If I was that flexible... man...

The impact bag will click in like 3 swings. Focus on what your shoulders are doing and your right leg. It's amazing what you feel when you slow things down.

This is the one I used. There are many.
