MrWellingtonINC
So I read a review on golf wrx for the Navigator putting aid by Dirty Larry Golf. ( http://www.golfwrx.com/335398/review-navigator-by-dirty-larry-golf/ ). I was impressed by how much it could improve your aim, and after having the importance of aim reiterated by Dave Pelz Putting Bible, and a few too many missed easy putts, I wanted to try it out.... But I couldn't make myself do it for 50$. I thought about it a bit and having worked at Ace hardware when I was 16, I figured I could make it happen for next to nothing. Actually about 12$. I think it turned out pretty well. It functions as intended. I will say, it's not as easy to take on and off, not as adjustable, and even though it doesn't weigh much at all, it probably is heavier than the real thing. On the plus side i'm willing to bet its sturdier and more durable. Few things. The easiest way to replicate this is to go to Ace hardware or true value putter in hand and show them the pictures and ask them where to find the pieces. They can probably do it in under 5 minutes, but you will likely spend an hour shuffling through bins of tiny fasteners and do it wrong...trust me. Also, make sure to use wing nuts so you don't need actual tools on the practice putting green, and you get bonus points if you can get machine screws that fit the torx wrench for your driver. Also instead of the T-bracket, a smaller L-bracket would be smaller and lighter or a couple straight mending braces attached with another screw and wing nut would provide better adjustability making it easier to use. Lastly, you may need a couple wraps of electrical tape on your shaft so the grommet fits snug and it doesn't move. If that bothers you, spend 40$ more on the real thing. The stuff golf makes me do... Canucklehead
Great idea! Especially for the price difference. You must be an engineer... LOL!!! Just my 2¢ here, but I'd cut the perpendicular part off, flip it around and line up the two holes with a bolt and nut through them and that would make it adjustable. Drilling a hole at the end of the adjustable piece and putting the rod through the drilled hole would give you maximum range. Peterpc2828
I have been looking at it as well and have held off because of the cost, thanks for the post I may have to try and make one for myself. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
MrWellingtonINC
I have been looking at it as well and have held off because of the cost, thanks for the post I may have to try and make one for myself. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy I was surprised at how easy and sturdy it is. Definitely worth the effort if you are even the slightest bit handy. Let me know how it goes if you decide to do it. Good luck! I'm honestly having trouble picturing what you are describing though, you might have to make one and post it Sent from my LG-H810 using MyGolfSpy mobile app Mizuno MP59 - KBS Tour -standard length and Lie (flex, length/lie) Nike Vapor Fly - 8.5* Stiff Right Handed Buffalo Grove 15 HCP
Canucklehead
Will do. I'm outta town for work until Tuesday but I can show you for sure. I promise I tried to explain as best I could. Canucklehead
I took your picture and drew out what I was talking about. Step 1: Cut off the piece sticking out from the shaft 2: turn it around so the hole on the end of the piece lines up with the middle hole of the piece still fastened to the shaft (blue arrow) and put use a nut/bolt/fastener to connect the two 3: drill a hole (red dot) and put the rod through the drilled hole and it would give you maximum range to line your eyes up with the putter. I hope this helps! Sent from my E6853 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
