Tower of Power had an interesting horn section, Rev--three reeds (bari-tenor-tenor) and two brass (trumpet-trumpet). Most five piece horn sections in that genre had three brass (trumpet-trumpet-trombone) and two reeds (bari-tenor). Dirty Dozen had the above plus tuba or sousaphone instead of string bass. BS&T.'s four piece section had trumpet-trumpet-bone-alto. Alto had gotten rare in r&b. It made ToP sound a little different--more frenetic, especially with that bass player, Francis Rocco Prestia.. I love Dr. John, and BS&T were great as well. Liked ToP, but never collected their music. I guess I was just in the right place but must have been the wrong time...... I've also said that if you want to listen to music then get yourself some ear buds and have a nice day. About two weeks ago I had to ride in a cart with a guy that insisted on listening to the Waylon Jennings channel. Nothing against ole Waylon, Willie, and the boys.... but after about 12 holes I was worn out. So I asked him to please turn it off for the remaining holes. He did thank goodness. About 1.5 years ago I played in a charity scramble with an older gentleman and he was listening to the Escape channel 69 on Sirius in his cart. I didn't mind it at all as he kept it low. In fact I found it quite soothing and not the least bit distracting. It was somewhat eloquent and matched the game I thought. After the round I tuned my car to the same channel and have been listening to it every since. Mostly. The music is calming and unintrusive. IMO this type of music wouldn't offend or intrude on anyone's game as long as it's kept low. Very low. Well, it might.... but certainly not like loud country or rock. The Escape channel is basically elevator music. So today I'm off to the local electronics store to find myself a small BT speaker and give it a try tomorrow. Nothing quite like listening to Locomotive Breath as performed by the Ray Conniff Singers. LOL So here is the little speaker I bought yesterday. It's pretty small as you can see. It's sounds alright for its size I suppose. I'll clip it to my bag today and see how it goes. They called themselves a Punk band, but I always thought they were more a Punk/Metal fusion band. I followed their career until they ended. I've heard Kory started the band up again... I hope so.
