This is a bit off the beaten path as recently I haven't been doing music. I accidentally found the Chasing Scratch podcast on March 1st and have been binging it ever since. It's what is usually on my ear pods when I am at the range or in any practice session.

Ordered 3 albums that arrived today.  Listened to an existing album first, Donny Hathaway Live.

New albums are Talking Heads- True Stories, Deep Purple - Fireball and Freddie Hubbard - Sky Dive.  All albums sound great since they are all from Better Records with ratings of Super Hot Stamper or better for each album side.

I'm rather eclectic... I do listen to "classical" music (mostly baroque, even if I'm not averse to some proper classical, and romantic too), a good bit of jazz (mostly of the modern/fusion/rock brand) and blues... and then I also listen to a lot of metal, a fair bit of it bit of the "extreme" variety, some deathcore, some progressive and/or technical death metal, and a good bit of black metal, even if as a Christian I don't care much for some of the themes and lyrics in the genre. Some good "black that's not satanic/anti-Christian" that I'm into is the "unblack" band, Antestor. Real cool, cold, second wave vibes. The sort of contemporary heir to them, with a side of self deprecating humour, that I listen a lot too these days is Luteøks.

I’m a metal fan as well. I listen mostly to the Scandinavian bands, old classics like In Flames and Children of Bodom, and some newer groups like Brymir. Another great band that sounds like they’re from Finland is Æther Realm, you’d never guess they’re actually from North Carolina.

Peter Gabriel Growing Up Live triple album set. It is a very well recorded live performance, but lacks the energy of the Secret World Live album.

... Don’t know if anyone watched SNL last night, but the Jonas Brothers were such a surprise!!! I try to listen to every group and keep an open mind. First song was standard pop and I bailed about 1/2 but I thought  “Walls” the second song was EPIC. The build and accompaniment reminded me of Purple Rain and a Beatles influence. Listen on a good sound system or headphones if you can:

You have to go some to reach the number of times that I have seen Tower of Power perform live, beginning in 1973. As near as I can recollect, the number is at least 68 times (probably more than 70).

Not going to lie. My already eclectic music preferences feel very out of place right now. I tend to go through strings for a month or two binging one genre and then swap for a change of pace. My job tends to give me a lot of time where I can put some headphones on and work in peace.

Currently rolling with a collection of music from Ayumi Hamasaki and Utada Hikaru. I tend to care less about the meaning behind the lyrics and just like the music.

I met the greenskeeper at my new home course a couple of days ago and he said he was going up to Chicago to see Sunny Day Real Estate. That got me listening to them again and other Jeremy Enigk projects.
Some great music there! If you grew up in the ‘90s chances are you’ll like his collection of work.
