Upcoming Tournaments Anyone?

Our Mens Golf Association puts on at least one tournament a month, sometimes 2 during the summer months.

 

This month we are playing in a "Flag Tournament", it's something I've never heard of and it's the first time we've tried it....here's how it works.

 

Everyone tees off one the first hole so there are staggered tee times.

 

Each person is given a small flag ( like surveying companies use), on the flag is your name and a number. The number is your course handicap plus 72 (par for our course). For example my course handicap is 17, so my flag will say 89.

 

so you play a normal round of golf and when you hit the shot that corresponds with the number on your flag, you plant the flag where that shot ends up. If you finish all 18 and still have strokes left to play you go to the first tee and continue playing until you reach your target number.

 

Winner is the person whose flag is the furthest.

 

Thoughts? Anybody ever played this format before?

Sounds very cool but sounds tough for the low capper.

Shot 41-33=74 in the interclub match today. Struck the ball extremely well, and made some really good putts for a change. It felt good to that in a match with pressure.

Updated mine. Work is getting in the way of some big events this year. Hopefully not next year.

Well I had a tournament yesterday, started well but had a rough back 9 to card an 80 and finish out of the money. Beautiful course though.

Tomorrow, my senior association has an event at the University of Maryland course.    While the golfing is fun, the big winner will be the guy that wins the 50/50 drawing.

Have my first ever tournament coming up with the club championships August 12-13. Should be interesting as I doubt I'll get a round in from the week before as I'm out of town. Maybe it will be exactly what I need!

Well I just won my first tournament (kinda). It was a shoot out tonight before our club tournament tomorrow. 10 guys in my flight, pared every hole with one birdie. People were pissed. But I just couldn't miss. I'm a true 14 handicap but it was just my night. Hopefully it will carry over to tomorrow.

My club has its 2 man 6/6/6 tournament next Saturday ....6 holes best ball/6 holes modified alternate shot/6 holes scramble.

 

My partner and I just won the Modified Alternate Shot tournament last weekend....going for back to back wins!
