Does anyone walk anymore?

Recommended Posts

Usually walking with a push cart, but recuperating from surgery I'll probably ride for a while.

Just wondering if there any walkers left. I recently returned to the joys of walking the course. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the idea of leaving the cart behind and playing in a much more relaxed state of mind. Also, it seems to me that I play better when walking. Anyone else enjoy putting one foot in front of the other when playing?

I walk almost exclusively. For me, it makes for or a much more enjoyable golf experience. I'll continue to do so for as long as I can.

I'm 45 now, and it absolutely hurts my heart to see young 20-somethings riding on perfectly walkable golf courses. Besides, most of the courses I play, it's less expensive to walk.

I have always played better when I walk. It started by not having the money to pay for a cart in my early playing days. Last summer I walked 18 holes by myself in 2 hours and 20 minutes.

I honestly can't remember the last time I walked a golf course. It's been at least 30 years. All the guys I've played with ride and it's part of my membership so we automatically load up the carts when we arrive.

I actually think I would enjoy walking at times. Three major knee surgeries and one broken hip has been a deterrent.

... If you really like walking and feel like it might be helpful for your health but have injuries, you can always walk at least some holes. My wife and I do it on courses we are forced to take a cart. I will tee off and she is already walking to her tee. She hits and walks with her driver to her ball while I drive up and hit my second shot, then take the cart back to her ball for her second shot. She hits and takes a putter and wedge (if needed) and walks to the green. On the next hole we switch with her driving and me walking.

I rode with one of the older guys in our old guy group today and I walked quite a bit.  I actually beat his arse to the green a couple of times and he was driving the cart.   I get tons of exercise every week working out at my gym.  Four days at the gym and three days on the golf course is my norm.   I have no excuse not to walk the course as I'm exceptionally fit for my age..

I have this watch now that counts my steps. I average 6200 steps a day at work. I think riding won't hurt me. Although if there is no back up on the course I might consider walking.

I REALLY want a new push cart. I really need to get back to walking my home course as it's extremely flat. My current four-wheeled push cart has too much resistance in the wheels so it takes a bit of energy to push it. I'll be looking to see which cart takes the prize with the MGS ratings.

I'll put in my vote for the Clicgear 3.5+, and I'm sure it won't be the only one. I do love it, but I have to ask... why did manufacturers get away from pneumatic tires? I still have an old Bag Boy with inflatable tires. It damn near takes up my entire trunk, it's totally impractical, but it rolls like a dream (when I inflate the tires). I still use it when I play with my daughter and she wants to push as well.

Walk all day long. People complain about golf being too expensive. A walk on a muni shouldnt be more than $60 and on private courses it's "free" (included in the dues). Always walk.

Forgot to mention for the walkers I just installed the hickies shoe laces and wow what a difference. I'd highly recommend trying them out. They aren't expensive and really hug the foot

I received an email this AM from FedEx that my new Clicgear 3.5 should arrive today! Sweet! I am determined to start walking most rounds, especially here at my home course where it's dead-flat.
