JerkoMcGee
I've always walked, but life got a lot better after I started using a push cart. I broke my collar bone a while ago, and after two surgeries - one to put a plate in and other to take it out, it still bothers me to swing my bag on and off of my back. Not an issue with a push cart. DocDuffer
Walking is always better. I let the riders play through and take my time to enjoy the game and my surroundings. Cbk57
I prefer to walk, I am returning to golf in part as something to do while going for a walk. If conditions permit(they do not always) it is the way the game was meant to be played and you should walk if you can. I am convinced that if your health and fitness permit walking that you will play better as the body stays loose and more prepared for subsequent shots. Even when forced to use a cart in the past, as much as possible, I would strap my bag on and walk to my shots. Still a half measure though as you have to comprise your timing to get the club or clubs you need. You can also walk your line to the shot and have time to think it over(for better or worse) as you go. When I learned to play though, mainly in high school there simply were no carts permitted so walking was just what you did. My first golf bag was an enormous leather cart bag and people looked at me funny when I used a pull cart at a couple golf meets. I did trash that in favor of an ultra light bag as soon as possible. cksurfdude 1 Quote Driver Taylor Made M2 Ping G 3 wood 14.5 loftPing G hybrid 19Hogan Radial 3-PW(forged circa 1989)Evnroll ER2, Golf bag, old and worn out circa 1989
Zylem
I like walking but most of the time I ride. As most of the gripus I play with ride and I don't want to be a solo walker. My nephew has just taken up the game and when I play with him we walk. It's a great way to introduce juniors to the game and I believe walking helps reduce the strain from a prior bad shot. Plus it gives us more time to talk about what's happening in his life. You'd be amazed at the stuff a 12 has on his plate. lamorak24
I walk when I play unless its hotter than 90 degrees outside. This way I can convince myself that the 5ish miles I walked will help me lose weight. Also, when its cart path only it really speeds up the round. I have a Clicgear Rovic that I love. I do ride during Scrambles or other Tournaments where the cart is included in the entry fee. hockey_dad
I walk whenever it's allowed. Makes the round more enjoyable when you can talk to your partners and you get different conversations with different golf partners. I think it makes the game more social and way more enjoyable. It's always a trade-off. I don't walk the entire hole when I do that, but I'll naturally look for opportunities to tell my cart-partner that I'll just grab a handful and (s)he can take the cart.
