Does anyone walk anymore?

I have a clicgear and it's great. There are almost no hills at my home course so don't really notice a huge difference between carrying and pushing a cart.

... You are better, stronger, younger man than me! Even when I was in my 30's and carried my bag, my shoulders were always tired by the 2nd half of the back 9. Back then the only other choice were those poor rolling 2 wheel pull carts that put just as much stress on my shoulders as carrying. I could make the argument that the 3 wheeled cart was one of the most revolutionary equipment changes in my lifetime.

I’ve walked my home course a few times in late winter, I really enjoyed it and it mixes it up.  The wife just got me a Caddytek, so it looks like I have some walkin’ rounds ahead of me in my future before it hits 100+* here in Texas.

I actually seem to play better when I walk so i walk every chance I get. I think walking allows you to stay loose and mentally break away from the game in between shots. I'll keep walking as long as I'm physically able to. I have a caddytek with a seat. I like the extra bit of storage for sweaters, water, etc. The seat costs extra but was well worth the extra $40.

Oh yes!

Golf having an important mental side to it, walking on your own and going directly to your ball without having to stop at somebody else's or leave the cart on the path and bring 2-3 clubs with you across the fairway depending on the line of sight/lie that you find once you get over your ball is a mega plus.

Nowadays, it never happens that I have a 4-hour window where I don't even look once at my phone and it only ever happens when I play golf walking, not riding.

Getting your hands on a nice push cart is the way to go. I need to upgrade my pushcart, but you can save a ton of money over the course of a season using a push cart. Also, I typically play better when I walk. I feel like when I'm not playing well, walking to my next shot helps get rid of some of the built-up emotion. I have gotten out and walked a could of times this year. Really the only time I don't walk is when it is too hot. I hate playing when it is above 90 degrees. Other than that, I walk as much as I can!

I always walk and always carry, I enjoy the pacing so much more than I do when I’m forced to be in a cart. I feel so rushed between shots in a cart. Like. I have no time to think about the shot just gone or the next shot.

I was a member at a very affordable country club in North Carolina for a few years and I would walk. I played about 4 rounds a week and since I didn’t pay cart fees it’s fair to say I absolutely got my money’s worth. Now that I’m in a more populated area of Texas I play local municipal courses and unless you’re on the course as soon as the sun comes up, its just not feasible for me to walk. I always take a cart and I still dream of the time I paid $150 a month for unlimited golf with no cart fees or greens fees lol

55 YOA and I must walk when possible.  Much better for the game and my back.  Keeps me loose.  Carry a bag for 18 holes (about 5 miles) and you will feel you like accomplished something vs riding around in a cart checking emails and social crap.

I’m 70 and walk using a 4wheel bag boy push cart I bought about 8 years ago.  I walk 3-4 times a week, even in the hot summers we have here in Tx.  I play early to try to beat the heat. Fortunately the course I play haws designed with very little distance between holes so no long walks except between nines.

I ride when on vacation or at a resort course.  I will take candies if they are available and walk.  It’s simply more enjoyable for me if I walk.  I can focus better and I think I play better.

I am definitely a walker. I use an electric push cart since I prefer a cart bag vs. a stand bag and with all the compartments of the bag filled with everything, it is quite heavy! I usually play 3-4 times per week and golfing is my primary source for exercise.

Since getting my Transrover for Christmas I’ve walked 6 of my last 9 rounds and loved every step of it. It helps me view the course and my next shot so much better and lets me strategize as I’m approaching the ball in a way that I don’t get from riding.

Currently in the bag:

Cobra Aerojet LS 9* | Cobra LTDx 3 wood 14* | Callaway Utility Wood 17* and 21* | Callaway Apex ‘19 forged 5-PW | Edison 2.0 wedges 49*, 53*, 57* | LAB DF2.1 Broomstick 50” | Transrover bag

I have big time respect for people that carry their bag for 18 holes.

I've used a push cart for a long time and have tried carrying my backpack style bag and that is some work.

love the fact that I can get some good cardio while playing at the same time. I'm about twice the amount of steps on my fitbit when I walk vs ride.

but - this is definitely weather dependent. I cannot imagine walking in the big time heat/humidity.

be safe, have fun and use whatever method of transportation does that for you. 🏌️‍♂️

As many have said, I try to walk as much as possible -- weekly rounds are always walking and ride when the course requires it to keep pace of play up. I purchased a hybrid stand bag for this exact reason!

I walk most rounds during the winter/cooler months. I used to use a troll but fine then quite clunky and often a pain on holly courses.

However when it gets hotter, carts are the way to go, makes it a lot easier to carry lots of cold beverages 🙂

My wife and I have been walking the last several months for overall health, so I've been walking whenever I play 9 holes. I want to build up to walk all 18 holes, but I also have some foot issues that keep me from doing that now. I've never liked pulling a cart, although I've never tried any of the newer versions or a self-propelled, so I have a lightweight carry bag that I use.

I do think walking helps me to focus better. A few of us will play an early 9 where I ride before our league 9 where I walk, and I notice that I'm calmer before a shot when walking. Possibly I'm just more exhausted! 🥵

Just wondering if there any walkers left. I recently returned to the joys of walking the course. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the idea of leaving the cart behind and playing in a much more relaxed state of mind. Also, it seems to me that I play better when walking. Anyone else enjoy putting one foot in front of the other when playing?

I use an electric push cart, so I'm walking without the weight. For me it's a good balance. I've walked over 125 miles since the 24 January, according to the gauge on the cart.

I still walk without the cart for rounds, but it's usually when I am doing an iron-only round. I walk around with a 5/7/54 degree, putter for 9 holes and carry the bag.

Have been walking when ever it is possible. With the game I have, some days all I get is a good walk. I was walking Bandon Trails a few years ago, and one of the others in our group was 77. He was not only walking, and carrying, but he was doing 36 holes a day. At the end of the day he still had a great game! He's my hero. I'm a recent cancer survivor, and rather than pushing a cart, I'm carrying a short set. I think it's actually easier for me to carry 10 clubs, on the hilly courses I play than it is to push a Clic Gear cart. I plan to get to a full set of clubs by the end of June.

211 courses and counting. I play mostly Callaway with 2 Ping wedges and an old Ping Kush Putter. I’m currently playing Taylormade TP5 or Tour Response balls.
