tarrantian 144
I'm a music lover of all genres (When you have a wife, 4 kids, etc. your taste in music tends to fall on the side of eclectic shall we say)... My favourite band of all time is Genesis, saw them in concert countless times over decades, solo members in concert as well, tons of vinyl, CD's, you name it)... 2 guys in a cart pull on on the parallel fairway and they happen to be blasting Genesis. Almost lost it, you simply can't concentrate when music is begin played as loud as they were. Music has a time and place, but I struggle to reconcile having it blasting from carts. That said, a friend I walk with has music playing from his push cart at a level that you simply can't hear unless you're within 10' of him - It's about balance and general courtesy at the end of the day. 4 Quote Stealth Plus 460 Driver 9.0D / 7.0D (Fujikura Ventus Black Velocore 6S) Stealth Plus 3 Fairway 15.0D / 15.0D (Fujikura Ventus Black Velocore 7S) Stealth Plus 3 Hybrid 19.5D / 19.0D (Fujikura Ventus Blue Velocore 8S) P790 2019 Irons (KBS C-Taper Lite 110 S) (4-PW) Milled Grind My Hi-Toe Wedges (KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 115 W) (50D 9.0 / 54D 10.0 / 58D 12.0) / Golf Pride CP2 Pro Jumbo Grips (All Metals / Irons) My TP Soto Putter* (Custom / KBS CT Tour) - Golf Pride Pistol Spider GT Notchback Putter* (Custom / KBS Fluted Feel) - Superstroke Traxion 1.0PT Grip Supreme Cart Bag (Black / Grey) TP5 Golf Ball 4.0 Push Cart / SX550 GPS / ProXE Laser Rangefinder (*Interchangeable to adhere to 14 club rule)

HardcoreLooper 5,533
I couldn't walk nearly as much as I do without the electric cart. It's not so much the extra effort of pushing; it's just so tough to keep a decent posture when pushing (especially up a hill). I pushed my daughter's Clicgear yesterday because it was so wet (the motor on my eWheels is sealed, but I didn't want to risk it). By the time I climbed the hill on 16, I was hurting pretty badly, and my last couple holes showed it. I'll risk it next time. 1 Quote What's in the bag: Driver - F8 - Aldila NV Blue 60 ( S ) 3 Wood (16*) - F8 - Aldila NV Blue 60 ( S ) 3 Hybrid (19*) - RBZ 4i - PW - D7 Forged - Recoil 760 ( S ) GW - LW - F8 - N.S. Jedaigeki 95
Living in England the vast majority (95%) of people I see on courses are walking. Golf Buggies just aren't part of the golf culture over here and are seen more as a lazy non serious golfers thing overall. However I accept there are people with legitimate health reasons why buggies are needed. That said, carrying is also not a large part of the culture here, the vast majority of golfers use trolleys, generally electric trolleys. Growing up the old pull trolley was seen as the old man thing and all "proper" golfers carried their bag however no everyone from scratch to 54 will use a trolley.

I think your courses do it right, with walking in mind when the course was designed. Too many courses here in the States have very long distances from greens to tees, especially when routed through a housing development. Thankfully there are plenty of courses to choose from in the golf cities where I have lived so avoiding the non walkable courses is not a problem. I played a course in Orlando that had a 1/2 mile cart ride from one hole to the next, which is beyond silly. 6 Quote Driver: SIM2 Max 10.5* ... AD-MT SR Fairway: SIM2 Max 15/16.5/18* ... One of the courses I play has most of the holes close together and it can be walked very easily. The other course in the area however has some longer breaks and the back 6 holes are all set on a pretty good hill side. It can be walked but you do need to be pretty fit. Its great when they are more walkable to at least have the ability if you can and want to walk. 2 Quote Epic Max LS 9° Smoke Black 70g 6.5 (2021 Official Review) | Epic Speed 15° Smoke iM10 60g 6.0 816 H1 18° Speeder HB 8.8 Stiff | 816 H1 21° Diamana S+ Blue 70 Stiff JPX 919 HM Pro 5 - PW Pro Tour Spec 115i Stiff | Equalizer 52° / 56° Tour V 110 Stiff SOFT 11S Super Stroke Mid-Slim 2.0 | Hoofer Bag | - Pro V1x | Right Handed Tracked by V3
Siamese Moose 731
At Boyne Mountain in Michigan there are two courses right on the mountain. The Alpine is eminently walkable, but I don't remember if it's allowed (I was there 19 years ago). The Monument is what came to mind for this discussion. From the clubhouse to the first tee is about a 15 minute cart ride. (They tell you at the clubhouse when you can start the drive.) If you could get dropped off at the first tee you could walk it, as it's hilly, but mostly downhill. I mean, it starts at the top of a ski mountain! Speaking for myself, I prefer to walk, but most of my playing partners do not. When I was still in my 30's (I'm 61), I did a quick calculation of my handicap walking vs. riding. Walking came out almost a stroke lower. If I calculated it based on just 9 hole rounds (meaning in my league) it was even a bigger difference. The diminishing difference over 18 shows fatigue is a factor. I'm sure that now, at 61, even though I'm in quite good shape, that the fatigue would show even more, and my riding handicap might even be equal or better to walking. 3 Quote Moose, my cat, is Siamese
Kenny B 32,500
David McLay Kidd, the course architect of Bandon Dunes, designed Gamble Sands which is located on the Columbia River in Central Washington State. It was designed as a walking course, and from green to next tee is very easy. However, if you take a cart and have never been there before, it is not always obvious when you come off some of the greens where the next tee box is located because you had to park quite a ways in front of the green. I got lost a couple of times and had to backtrack. I will walk next time. 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
