B_R_A_D_Y
Even if I ride, I prefer to let my partner drive and if we aren’t playing cart golf, I grab a couple clubs and usually walk to my ball. It gives me more time to calm my thinking. Drive up - jump out - and hit ... isn’t as enjoyable at me. 1 Quote TSi3 #1-3-5 all with Tensi Blue S-flex 2019 Apex Pro black 3 & 4H Catalyst 70 or TSi3 #2-3 depending on how I’m playing. After my first back surgery in 95 I picked up an electric cart per surgeons orders (a golfer himself) I can easily say best golf decision of my life. After carrying my bag almost exclusively it was instant love. I was 42 and never thought twice about how it looked or what anyone else thought, I just knew this would be as close to having a caddy for every round I would ever get. The freedom to keep your posture while you walk is not only great for your body in general, it keeps me fresh for the back 9. So that friend of mine got a new MotoCaddy M7 a couple of weeks ago and gave me his old Bat Caddy. HardcoreLooper
After too many rounds with clubs on my back (both my own and others), my back finally gave out. And after pushing for about 15 more years, I finally got a powered trolley. I find myself playing far more emergency nines than I used to now. And I will not let my daughters carry their bags. Your back is too important. 1 Quote What's in the bag: Driver - F8 - Aldila NV Blue 60 ( S ) 3 Wood (16*) - F8 - Aldila NV Blue 60 ( S ) 3 Hybrid (19*) - RBZ 4i - PW - D7 Forged - Recoil 760 ( S ) GW - LW - F8 - N.S. Tsecor
i wonder if anyone has done studies on the back issue......i find it odd that carrying a light bag would be worse than actually playing the sport itself.....the rotation of the spine in golf must be 1000x more detrimental to the body than carrying a lightweight bag.... As explained by my spine surgeon, It is virtually impossible to have correct posture while carrying a bag of clubs. We tilt our spine to an unnatural angle which puts a lot of stress on the lower back in order to carry the load, especially going up inclines. He did say some have better posture than others depending on their core strength but nobody walks with a perfectly erect spine carrying clubs. Fwiw, some who use push carts do the same thing, assume unnatural spine angles to push up hill although with the right handle height and technique it is possible to keep a perfect posture while pushing if you make it a priority. And obviously an electric cart is like having a caddy so perfect posture is easy if you are diligent. 1 1 Quote Driver: SIM2 Max 10.5* ... AD-IZ 6SR Fairway: SIM2 Max 15/18* ... Tsecor
since lasers are now legal, why doesnt the tour allow caddies to use push carts? why whould they suffer the back issues for doing their job? Quote Golf is cool

Imp
I'll walk when I can. I have the Alphard V2 and it's been a game changer for me. Walking upright, not pushing my cart up hills, I don't feel tired anymore. I rode last weekend at a VERY hilly course with long traverses between holes and kind of happy I did - funny part is carts were included, but the starter told us as we were teeing off, no one beforehand... "cart path only", I would have walked! 1 Quote Mixed bag... Mizzy irons, Callaway Woods, Vokey Wedges, Odyssey putter

Jedaigeki
Electric Pushcarts are the major method for most UK golfers to get their clubs around the course. My club has 750 members in total, about 50 of them are regular bag carriers, maybe 30 in total are usually golf cart users and everyone else has a trolley with probably 90% of them being electric.

Same in Germany, riding carts are very rare and when I visited I used a motocaddy. Since I am going to be testing the Motocaddy M7 for MGS I will be walking a lot more rounds even in the SoCal summer heat! The biggest issue I have with walking in the summer is that I have to carry all the water I drink (sometimes I will go through 3-4 liters in one round) so with an electric cart it should be easier. 3 Quote Driver : SIM2 Max 9* MC Kuro Kago Silver 60 Stiff Woods : GS53 3 Wood 14* Mitsubish Tensei Blue 73g Regular Hybrids: 949X Project X HZRDUS RDX Black Irons : 699 Pro Black 5-AW 1* flat KBS Tour V 90 Stiff Shafts Wedges : 52, 56, 60 Putter : Spider Red Bag : lightweight cart bag | Dry Series Bag Ball : TP5 PIX (2019) | ProV1x (2021) Rangefinder : ULT-X Pushcart : M5 GPS DHC Electric Push Cart SoCal, USA Right handed HDCP 16.
sglj3
I walk almost exclusively, when I ride it is usually when I score a late tee time with no one in front of me for several times so I can fly. I actually went out a week ago on a somewhat rainy day, I was the only one on the course - go figure. I played 18 holes in 1 1/2 hours and shot my handicap. I was relaxed and not rushed nor did I have to wait. If I had been walking I would've played 9 in about an hour but the full 18 was worth the extra $ and getting wet when no one else wanted to was a bonus. I love when I can experience the true peacefulness of the course. 2 Quote Mizuno ST190 Driver Mizuno ST190 3 Wood Nike 4 Hybrid TaylorMade P790 4-PW Ben Hogan 50*, 54*, 60* TaylorMade Soto Blade putter
vtpachyderm
I always walk when I can, and I carry. But I mainly use a Ping Moonlite to carry all 14 of my clubs and gear. I usually carry a couple of pieces of fruit, and a 750ml water bottle, which I'll fill up at the turn at 9. All my clubs have graphite shafts so that saves a wee bit on the weight, but not much. Wife says that if I want to keep playing golf, I should walk and carry, and she'll buy me a push cart as my 50 year bday present . As a caveat, I don't play much, maybe get 15 18-hole rounds, and about 20 9-hole short course rounds during our season (Mid May - End of Sept), so it's not that much a strain. 1 Quote Trying to play as much golf as I can up in Trondheim, Norway. Finch
I only drive under duress. Here in .au, it's usually only the old, injured or infirm, or the lazy who drive. When it's 40 degrees, sunny, and the wind is so hot that it melts your airway, I fit into all of those categories. Otherwise I don't fit any and walking is good for the mind and body... so I walk, happily. 2 Quote TSi3 9.0 + HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black 60/6.5 | U510 16* + Ventus Blue VeloCore HB 9X 2021 T200 3i + KBS Tour 120S | 2021 T100S 4i-PW + KBS Tour 120S Jaws MD5 52.10 + KBS Tour 120S | PM Grind 58.10 & 64.10 + KBS Hi Rev 2.0 LAB Golf DF 2.1 Custom |
