Shankster
Question is in the title. Mine is JFK hands down. From the videos and pictures I've seen. The dude had a sweet swing. And looked dang good doing it. From the picture below, he'd fit right in if he was out golfing today. Ray Bans and all. Edit: I picked him just for his Sick Flow, Glasses, Pants, brown glove, blue Polo, and those blades. Not for his political affiliation. - Alan
Philly Golf Guy
Eisenhower. Loved the game but never got real good at it. Petitioned to get that tree at Augusta on 17 removed that he always hit off the tee. They had to adjourn the meeting in order to save the tree (which was struck down by lighting a couple years ago). Installed a putting green at the White House. He was also my 7th cousin. I blame him for me getting the golf club (and not being all that good). TheWahoo
Grover Cleveland. The story goes that he was playing at an up-scale private club. A member saw him getting ready to hit his ball about two feet in front of the tee marker. The member said--Mr. President, at this club we hit from behind the tee markers, sir. To which President Cleveland responded--Sir, this is my second shot. I also like President Ford when he said--I must be getting better, I'm hitting fewer people. But as it has been already stated-I would find it interesting to play with any President. And I most would certainly ask, do you think you can get us on Augusta National. DaveP043
I've played Army Navy CC in Arlington VA, where Eisenhower played often while he was president. I've seen his clubs on display in a case there. I've met a man (John Derr) who played with Ike at Augusta National. That's the only connection I have, however convoluted, with any golfing president, so I'm going to say he's my favorite. deejaid
You didn't specify whether it had to be President of the United States or not, so I'm going with North Korean President Kim Jong Il. The first time he played golf he shot 38 under par with 5 hole-in-ones on Pyongyang's 7700 yard golf course. He never made worse than birdie on any hole either. Texian
Slightly off topic, but not much. I really don't have a favorite golfing president, but I did once get so upset at people who criticized vice president Dan Quayle because he played too much. I sent some comments to the Houston Chronicle and they published it under the heading--"Dan Quayle, A Golfer We Can Stand Behind." I also followed the elder President Bush when he played a pro-am round at the Houston Open, and was impressed by how quickly he played, and how well, even though his duties kept him from playing a lot.
