Most unanticipated golf purchase

So for my lunch break I just wondered into my local golf store because.. well I like wondering golf stores. Well I had no intention of buying anything until I saw at the front counter stacks and stacks of Nike golf balls selling for $19 a dozen. They had everything from the white to red to tour platinum and tour black, in white and volt. So $160 later I walked out with 8 dozen. What an expensive lunch.

What are your stories? What did you come out with that you had not intended on buying?

Hate to admit it. But I have been there, walk into a golf store at lunch and end up buying balls or shoes

About 12 years ago, I went into my regular golf store to buy a dozen balls for the next day snd chat with the guys I knew. I waked out with the dozen balls and a brand new R9 Driver.

I hardly ever do this in stores, because I have a really really bad habit of telling myself I can get it online for less. But if you count walking out of the store, then automatically buying it online, then I've done that. Happened earlier this year with my F7+

I finished my round three weeks ago, and as my clubs are being wiped down, I see the Ping tent down on the range. Well, well, well. What have we here?

45 minutes later, I'm placing an order for a new driver and three wood...

Impulsive much?

Two things recently for me. One was a pair of shoes on for 50% off at a course I don't normally play. I tried them on and that was that, threw the old ones in the truck and played with the new ones.

Then I was at the store looking at the f7 3 wood and ended up walking out with two shop worn callaway MD3 wedges for $120 cdn! Most used clubs since then!

You guys kill me! You need will power to prevent these impulse purchases! And that will power is called a wife, two kids, four mortgages, and feeding a hamster (who knew a hamster could eat so much? 😂 if I didn't have kids, I'd be going all out on the hardware just like you all, but the family comes first.

I've also had this internal debate the last several years as well, that while I want to buy the shiny new irons, fww, wedges or driver, it's all for naught if my swing is in the gutter :(. A new set of irons isn't going to magically make me hit better shots (will it?, lol) and increase my GIR's or keep me in the fairways. This might be the year though that I go all in and revamp the bag. We'll see...

I impulse buy, just not golf gear, that I think through first. It's all the other crap that I HAVE to buy.

The most unanticipated was a chipper. Went into the store looking at drivers and had no idea they existed, but tried it out in the hitting bay and couldn't miss with it. So I bought it right then and there and had a lot of success with it for a few seasons.
