I went to College in Traverse City which is a bit north of there. Make sure you go North to Glen Arbor, and check out the sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore! The area is friggin beautiful! If you're in for heading to TC, I would absolutely recommend "The Red Mesa Grill" it will be the best Latin food you'll ever eat, and they have one hell of a tequila selection. I lived 3 miles from Bay Harbor! You have to check out "The Knot" at bay harbor. They have a beer list and you can get your name on the wall. Charlevoix has a brewery and you can't go wrong wit most of the food there. You should also look into Dunmaglaus in charlevoix!! And the Belevedere, one of Tom Watson's favorite courses. Walloon Lake you need to stop by the "Barrelback". It's a nice little bar/restaurant on the best lake in Michigan. Petoskey has a plethora of food and beer. Let me know if you want more info! My parents still live in Charlevoix. - Alan

Shankster
There is also the "Original" Red Mesa in Boyne City. It's much better, been there at least 300 times. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Shankster
There is Crooked Tree right across the Highway from Bay Harbor, and the Heather at Boyne Highlands. Both really nice courses. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
MGoBlue100
#1, you won't be disappointed. Unbelievable track! If you finish before sunset, get a drink, hang out in the Adirondack chairs and wait. Worth your time. You'll go thru Manistee & Onekama on your way up, most likely. Dtwn Manistee is cool; you could grab lunch there, or pizza at Big Al's, near the casino! A staple! Shirley's Place is basically it in Onekama. Have the Mr C Burger, named after the dude who used to own the place. Really good! You can obviously eat at Arcadia. Pricey, but fantastic. Be aware; it's a SOLID 2-1/2 hrs from Arcadia to Bay Harbor, and another 1:45 from there to Forest Dunes. Lots of two-lane, LOTS of state troopers. Note the cool blue paint jobs! Tons of good options Bay Harbor & in Petoskey. Try Tap 30. I think you pick up what I'm putting down. It'll fit your group perfectly. Make sure the phone/camera battery is charged. Bring extra balls, esp at Arcadia, and your A++ sand game. A few bunkers have stairs. That is not a misprint. Enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy "Where'd it go?" "Right in the Lumberyard..." RenteriaAJ
MGS, Its been a couple weeks since my return of this years Boys Golf Trip, I want to start off and say Michigan in May is a great place to play some golf. if your not from that area, the views are absolutely beautiful. Nothing like you see in Georgia or Florida. We played 3 different courses in 3 days, and each one is on the new Golf Digest 100 greatest public courses. 73 - Bay Harbor(Links/Quarry) 13 - Arcadia Bluffs 25 - Forest Dunes I am not a professional golf course ranker but I would flip these around and put Forest Dunes at the top followed by Bay Harbor, then Arcadia Bluffs. each course was in great shape and the greens were fast. we ended up staying in Traverse City, it had food and bars and that's all we needed, we commuted to each course about hr to hr half each day. we didn't feel like packing up each day and moving. im going to add a few photos to another reply, I recommend this trip to everyone. get up there and play some great golf. gaussman1
I don't think Boyne Highlands has anything to rival those views but the Heather as someone mentioned is a bona fide tournament track. We spend a week each summer in Harbor Springs just north of Petoskey and of all the area courses the Heather is my favorite to play Sent from my Nexus 6P using MyGolfSpy mobile app Rogue SZ 10.5 *NEW* Fujikura Pro Green 65 X Rogue 15 degree Evnflow Blue 6.5 Back in the Bag Z765 4-G Nippon Modus 120 Stiff 54 and 60 Amazing Grace Ass Kicker
