You have $1200 to spend on a full set of clubs...used or new doesn't matter. You have to make a complete 14 club set. Driver, 3 wood, hybrids, iron set, wedges and a putter. How do you spend it? Watched Rick Shiels spend $500 on a full set used. Just wondering how you would allocate the funds. Which clubs would you choose? What club would be the most expensive? How would you decide?Figured this would be a fun exercise. Would you stick to the same brand? Would you mix and match?

It's definitely possible to get a new box set from Golf Town, etc for less than a grand. Would take the rest and buy a putter and wedge or 2 to round it out.

 

If I went used I'd be hitting up eBay looking for some 712 MBs... The rest of the bag I would base off how much I have leftover after that lol

I've got $600 in my current bag counting the bag but that's because I won the irons and kept the wedges from a test.

 

It's an interesting challenge - I'm sure my bag won't be that exciting because I use what fits as opposed to what's hot or looks or sounds good - it works for me, here go:

 

Ping G 30 - 150

Tour Exotics R8 75

 

 

TMag SLDR 4,5 150

Wilson C100's. 250

Hogan TKs. 350

 

Never Compromise Vodoo Daddy 25

 

I'd use the remaining 200 for necessary adjustments to get them all to fit.

I'm another keeping my bag guy. I made my hybrids and irons, so I could splurge if I wanted to. The only change would probably be changing my wedges to the RTX 3's.

Hmm $1200 for most of us goes a long way. I payed probably $600 for my entire set of clubs maybe less. That said for fun this last week I built 2 sets of clubs online in a shopping cart one no limit one had to be under $200. The no limit ended up being like $1600 with upgraded shafts etc. i actually had more fun with the under $200 had a Taylormade 580xd an Titleist 4wood set of Wilson Blades that were just awesome but would probably be extremely difficult to hit. All said $1200 if you can find irons for a good price goes a long way. My bag would be mixed for sure though. Probably Callaway or TM for the woods and I might save up for a spider putter or Scotty and cut some corners other places with used stuff.

I've got 16 new (actually used but you wouldn't know it) KZG forged irons I purchased recently. I want to have them all shafted and rebuilt to my specs by my fitter. So that's probably going to eat up most if not all of the $1200. If there's any left over I'll buy some waxed shoe laces.

I would probably spend the most money on the putter and driver.  Another TM R11s if I had to keep it low or spring for a Callaway Epic or Srixon 565 (do they have any used ones on Ebay yet?  For putter would pick up a used Scotty somewhere.  Irons Im sure I could find a used set of Mizunos that would fill my needs and some Cleveland wedges.  l Would take a look at the classified section in the forum and probably ebay to keep it under the $1200.

I actually very satisfied with my current set however if I had an extra $1200.00, I might add a Srixon 565 or Titleist 917 driver to my stall along with some Callaway Stead Head irons. God forbid for my clubs to be stolen however if they were, I'd have a good start on a new bag.

Well, my current bag cost me $726 out of pocket.

If I paid the full prices it would have cost me $3,011 as I got it all new. I did get discounts, used $700 in gift cards plus got a free putter for my msg review.

 

So that leaves me about $500 for incidentals.......
