She's home. As you can see she's doing better. The doctors tell us that it will be months before she's fully recovered. She's having a very good night. The best one this week.

We got a call from her doctor that they found things in her spinal fluid that indicate that she had a strep infection. A strep infection in the spinal cord is meningitis - very bad - that's not what she has thank God. However it's possible for the remnants of this infection to cause her delirium, along with other symptoms that wouldn't be apparent in her such as decreased coordination and blurred vision - she already has those.

The good news is it's very treatable with steroids and antibiotics. She started the antibiotic this evening and we see the neurologist for the steroid later this week. Best case scenario is the first course of steroids does it and she's well on her way to normal in two weeks. Worst case is two months.

Today was a bad day because it's the first time that she has indicated that she is aware that something is wrong. That part is heart breaking. When I put her to bed I had to assure her that she will still like baseball. She's crying about that right now. It's tearing me up.

Glad to hear it's not as serious as could be. But I know it had to tear you up to see her upset. I'm sure there's a quote or scene from Terance Mann in Field of Dreams that make her relaize baseball will be there for her when she's ready to cheer for it again.

Tell her the power of MGS is behind her.

They'll be plenty of baseball for her watch in the upcoming weeks so I'm sure she'll still love it!  ^_^

As an update Penn saw the pediatrician yesterday. Her condition causes her to have no filters and she used language that would more indicative of her brother the sailor. Her doctor noted that the language was contextually appropriate which means that she's recovering as expected. She was also concerned about her summer home work last night. We are a ways off but moving in the right direction. The side effects of enough antibiotics to cure a horse are nasty but mild compared to the delirium that they are reversing. It looks like they've got the right diagnosis. Of course the bills are now coming in ---- yikes

Rev- Encouraging to hear things are moving in a better direction! Take it a day at a time and know that we are all praying for you guys. On a side note... see if you can steal some of her steroids (anabolic?) to lengthen out your drives!

Rev, have you thought about setting up an account for donations from family and friends?  Martha and I would be happy to help out.  LMK.
