PlaidJacket
Old tech... new grip. They used to make grips a long time ago with this feature. Peterpc2828
I have been dying to try these and get for my irons, I have a bad grip issue where for some reason i always close the face, hoping these help, I did start taking my grip with my right hand first and it's helped my issue tremendously. GolfSpy Barbajo
Got to try them at the PGA show - Golf Pride was part of the Tour Edge media day event and they had some clubs with the Align grips for us to try. I kinda liked them for irons, but like you guys not sure they'd make sense on adjustable clubs. I love the Plus 4 grips anyway - and from the one sampling I'd give these a try. BryanGolf
I had to regrip a new 5 wood I just acquired and decided to throw this grip on! I've hit about 10 balls with it but I can't get enough of the way it feels. I never played with reminder grips so while I've had some limited experience with them on random clubs, this is the first time I've gamed one. If I didn't have 12 brand new MCC+4s on my other sticks then I would be regripping my entire set...except my 60. Obvious reasons, right? These are much more natural feeling than old ribbed grips, again from my limited experience. Worth the $8 to go get and have installed on an extra club to try out! @BryanGolf Cobra F7+ w/Project X HZRDUS T1100 75g 6.5 Cobra F7 3 Wood w/Mitsubishi Tensei CK Pro White 80TXTaylorMade M2 5 Wood w/Graphite Design DI 8XTaylorMade UDI 3 Iron w/Project X HZRDUS Black 105g 6.5TaylorMade P770 4 Iron, P750 5-PW w/True Temper DGTI X100TaylorMade Milled Grind SB 54* w/DGTI S400Titleist Vokey SM6 60* M Grind w/DGTI S400TaylorMade Spider Tour Blue
Sviolasr
I have played "ribbed"/"reminder"/"Learner" grips since I was 13. I am 57 at this current time. Never played with anything else quite frankly. If it was good enough for Ben Hogan to lay a piece of wire in the rear section of the club in order to promote a consistent reliable grip of the club why would I think differently? In fact most junior clubs come with this type of grip installed. I can honestly say that the wedges are the exception to installing the ribbed grip. The round traditional grips allow for opening of the face for lob shots etc. so I would not recommend them for your wedges. In addition, I would also not recommend putting on an adjustable driver such as TaylorMade, Callaway, or Titleist driver, for example. However, where I draw a major distinction from other posts is...... what to do after a proper Driver fitting?? These clubs are multi-faceted in their design. Hundreds of settings and hundreds of shaft options. The mistake is that they give you a wrench!!! If you have been fit for your Driver, more often than not you aren't going to change it. PLUS, more often than not, you only need the wrench after the loft has been determined for draw bias or high low launch setting, neither has anything to do with a align grip. When you shift the loft then the grip rotates, which messes with the position of the rib. If you haven't been fit properly from a reputable professional I would highly suggest doing so. I have played R7 TP on though the line of adjustable drivers from Taylormade ( Yes I know R7 wasn't adjustable) But R9, R11 M1 2016 and the current M1 2017 are. If you buy an adjustable driver, it comes with a round grip. Once you dial it in, (either on your own or via a proper fitting), rip the round grip off, and place an align/ribbed grip on it. Once I find the setting with a round grip I immediately replace the stock grip. NOTE: 1/3 of all tour pros use RIBBED grips. I thought I was alone in this. When folks ask to hold my clubs they immediately realize the difference. most are PERPLEXED. Bernhard Langer cocks his V55 Ribbed Golf Pride grips ( no longer made) to one side to prevent hooks ( check out the you tube video). I slightly rotate my V55 Ribs from center to the right of center to promote draw. So in essence you can be creative with your grip placement to help correct against your negative tendencies. I SAW THESE BAD BOYS ( Align MCC) AND GOT THE FIRST BOX DELIVERED to Golf Galaxy today. Really a great, great, great idea. I can't think of any negative, other than ribbed grips were hard to find for so many years and they eliminated the V55. NOW........ they are part of a mainstream marketing campaign. Who would have thunk it. I'm glad Golf Pride recognized and expanded on a market for grips that help you GRIP it correctly every time. I have 10 Align MCC grips and I love the fact that they are multi compound. In the past I have tried the multi compound round grips but hated the fact that there was no ribbed option. I tried the round ones, loved the feel but ripped them off after a couple of rounds. Try the Align, you will either hate them or be converted. if you don't want to spend $10,00-$11 per grip the tour velvet has always come in a ribbed option If you slice the ball or hook the ball they will help you at a minimum get the feel of the proper grip. bullldog
Also if you have to open or close the face (slice hook) to get out of trouble a rib will hinder this. Edit to add: better make sure grip is on straight through all of em
Kor.A.Door
It won't matter on the Callaway driver, all the adjustments are in the adapter, you don't turn the shaft, that's one thing I like about the Callaway adapter. pman21
I've used both the tour wrap ribbed and velvet ribbed in the past. I tried the align grips on a friend clubs last week. Here's what i noticed: The older ribbed style are much more pronounced. If you are older, like me, or have any hand swelling - feel problems, you may not feel the align rib at all. It is very subtle. My friend said he could not feel it in his fingers at all, so it was of no benefit to him at a pretty big surcharge. You definitely need to try the grip installed before you go to the expense of purchase. All the other comments here are valid. Installation may be an issue, for as in the original ribbed version, you or your installer may not get them all aligned at the same face angle. And of course on an adjustable club (if you tinker) you would not want to install any align or ribbed grip.
Dueller
I've recently had all my irons re-shafted and decided to replace all my grips with the Plus 4 Align in midsize. I previously had the original Plus 4's and loved them. The new Align grips are just as advertised and help with getting the grip more consistent with each shot. It may be placebo but in my mind I feel like I have more control over the club face now I have a reference point to where a square club face is relative to my hands. As with the original Plus 4's the new grips tend to feel a bit squishy when first installed, especially if you haven't tried them before. I did also find the new Align grip on the driver had a tendency to move out of a straight line but nothing that made the grip feel abnormal, more of a visual observation. In any case Ill be buying these again next time I re-grip.
Driver: Ping G400 Max 9*, VTS silver S Fairway 5: Cobra F7, VTS silver SHybrid 4: Ping G400, VTS silver SIrons 5-PW: Srixon Z765, Steelfiber i110cwWedges: Grindworks 50F/56F/60F 86 SeriesPutter: Evnroll ER2 CSBag/ Buggy: Bagboy Hybrid Chiller/ Caddy Tek EZ FoldBall: Q Star Tour
