Preferred Putter Grips?

I feel like MGS did a study on this a year or so ago. I don't remember exactly what the results were but it seems as if the round grip was the poorest performer

Interesting. Curious if the “technology”, or claims, were tested if different results would be seen.

For many years I've played with normal size grips of all makes and have really liked the leather stitchback grip. A month or so I picked up a putter with a Superstroke 2.0 grip. I think I'm in love. Now I want to look at the Flat Cat grips.

I have small, pathetic hands so I use smaller grips. Since switching to a SS Pistol GTR Tour I've been putting much better. When my ER2 finally comes in, I'll see how I fare with their pistol grip and if I hate it I'll probably put another GTR

Superstroke Flatso 2.0 counterweighted for me. Feels easier to keep the putter square with it.

I've used the Winn AVS grip for the past three seasons.  It's an oversize grip with a taper.  I also switched to a cross-handed grip at the same time that I began using the Winn AVS.  I always had trouble using a cross-handed grip with a traditional putter grip, but the cross-handed grip seemed much  more normal/controllable with the tapered oversize grip.  Although I don't have data to  support it, I can  say that my putting has definitely improved since the switch.

I really liked the Flatso 2.0 I put on my old Anser 2i, but just picked up a Ping Sigma G Tyne that has the PP62 grip on it that feels real good. Some results may vary...

I just put a Tour SNSR straight on my Edel. Liked the Garsen but felt like I was giving up a little distance control. I putted well with it though so the Tour SNSR will definitely be on a short leash. The Tour SNSR is closer in weight to the original Edel grip so I am hoping that helps with the distance control.

I've tried most models of SS (minus the claw model they put out) and have had no qualms with any - pistol got your being my favourite, 5.0 being my least.

Currently have the Lamkin Sink 13” round on the 2 putters I game the most (Method Origin, Method MOD 90) and love it. I air install and can flip these grips between any of the putters I own. Love the weight and feel in my hands, I play courses where the greens can vary DRASTICALLY in both speed and contour so the grip alignment dots are a nice addition - grip down a dot for downhill or particularity fast putts

At present, I am really interested in trying out the Flatcat models - installed properly (not like JRose) as well as the Ping stock model that is almost identical to the SS GT tour. I liked the surface texture and material more than the SS.

You should give the Pure Big Dog putter grip......all rubber and flat on one side. Great Feel.

Anyone ever try the Iomic jumbo grips? They look kind of like the rubber Pure Big Dogs but maybe slightly bigger. I like the Big Dog but prefer a grip slightly larger than it.

I did a putter fitting a few years ago and tried an Edel round grip (brushed tour wrap texture).  Stayed with my same putter (Mizuno Black Carbon mallet) but switched the grip to the round Edel with extra wraps (use oversize grips on my irons).  Favourite grip I have tried.  No problems with rotation possibly due to my grip.  I use a conventional grip but both index fingers are pointed straight down in line with he shaft.  This seems to keep my wrists more stable and may be the reason the round grip works for me.

Riund grips are great. No mistake with grip alignment and in my opinion makes it easier to get a consistent grip. I have used regular no taper iron grips but need to just bite the bullet and order an edel round for My putter.

+1, add me to the list using superstroke 2.0. Currently gaming g2 craz-e I got for a song, and put a pp62. My sigma g craz-e has stock pp60. Only small grip I have is a 90's/2000s grip on a old ping pal. I was told, for me to use the biggest grip possible. I enjoy SS, but certain models get dirty faster than others.

Just curious as to what grips all of you rock on your putters as most of the guys i play with have some variation of the superstroke. Interested to see if you prefer something stock right off the rack or a variation of the superstroke (pistol, flatso, countercore, 1.0-5.0) or some of the Winn grip offerings. Especially curious to see if anyone has the flatcat grip that Justin Rose and some other tour pros have put into play recently. Let me know maybe what you prefer, what you like or what you don't like.

I have yet to change the grip on my G2i Craz-e. I have covered it with tennis tape, because it's gross. I used to do this in high school, and I love having that feel back. When Scott Verplank came out on tour, we all started taping our putter grips.

Yup, I remember many years ago the tennis tape in putters was everywhere. I tried it for a while but evidently didn't like it that much.

It's funny, I did it as a stopgap because my kids were giving me grief about my nasty grip. I had every intention of getting a SuperStroke. But I started putting better, so I didn't want to mess with it.

Same here. That grip helps my lock my wrists and not unconsciously flip the putter head at contact. I have it on 2 of my 3 putters.
