Golf Podcasts?

Chasing Scratch is coming back for it's second season on April 17th.  If you've not listened to this, do yourself a favor and try it.  Light hearted and well executed podcast.

The EAL shown is the best out there, IMO! Patrick Koenig also has a great podcast.

Began listening to a podcast called "Life On Tour" recently on Spotify.  It's a European Tour production that is very entertaining.  Unique concept to hear the stars of the sport we love discuss their rise from childhood into the professional golf ranks in their own words. 

The episode featuring Ian "The Postman" Poulter is quite enlightening.  It gave me a whole new perspective on his personality.

Anybody listen to any? I've been listening to Fore Play, by barstool sports recently. Just a couple average dudes talking golf. They have pretty good guests- David Feherty, George Brett, Willy Wilcox, Wesley Bryan to name a few. Looking for something to listen to in my drives to/from work

Used to listen to Foreplay until they started talking about Jack Nicklaus dying before he would let Tiger win more tournaments than he has. They also can’t seem to complete a sentence without using the F word. They do have some good guests but the podcasters themselves are just rambling most of the time. To disrespect Jack was uncalled for. I think they sit around and play with themselves while watching old Tiger video.

I listened to Four Play off and on at one point in time.  I'm far from a moralist by any definition of the word but I couldn't stand the incessant language for the sake of incessant language.  I'm not put off by the occasional curse word but listening to a handful of guys drop "F" bombs every other word is annoying. 

Then again, Barstool Sports social media is annoying as well.  Everything they do is geared toward a certain demographic that I obviously do not fall in line with.

... Imo curse words should be used for effect and I think there is a time and place for their use. But using them as an every day adjective is just a lazy use of the english language and additionally diminishes their power. Miss a makable putt with an emotional "Dammit Chisag" is vastly different than a casual "I'm using a dammed Maxfli because every damm ball is the same as every other damm ball".

Unfortunately that's "par for the course" with all of Barstool.  It's like they want to take advantage of the fact that the FCC can't fine them so they decide that every other should be a curse word.  After a while it's too much and the whole Barstool thing gets worn out....

I would also like to point out, listening to Poulter talk about the possibility of captaining the European Ryder Cup team at Bethpage, facing down the New York fans, is thought provoking!

The whole "Barstool thing" was worn out ages ago, I don't bother with anything that includes their logo - podcasts, sites,  you name it.

I subscribed to Chasing Scratch and downloaded all of Season 2. After the first episode I was leaning towards deleting the rest of the episodes, but I stuck with it and now I'm on Episode 6 - Conversion. The podcast definitely got better, and perhaps since I didn't listen to Season 1 is why I didn't get into the first episode I listened to.

I sit in my office for as much as 10 hours every day.  Golf podcasts are terrific ambient noise.

Same. I’m closer to 90 mins counting the drive to the office and then back home so podcasts are quite easy to get into.

I also listen to them all on 1.5x speed.

Same here. Also while driving around town. Much preferred over the radio most days and there's plenty of podcasts geared towards education and self-improvement so it's not like every podcast I listen to is strictly for entertainment value.

If anyone is interested in an insightful perspective on the state of the golf industry, give Erik Anders Lang's latest podcast with Dottie Pepper a listen.  From her experience on the Board of Directors of the PGA of America, Pepper explains how golf isn't hurting, the business model created by "revenue" is hurting.  Golf, in it's purest form, is thriving. 

This is what I have been saying for several years.  The model of the all-inclusive club offering fine dining, fitness centers, aquatics centers, etc. is giving way to the roots of the game.  A pure golf experience without the fluff and filler.  

This is EAL's best work to date and Pepper is brilliant and thought provoking.

Golf Science Lab with Cordie Walker: Best for players interested in the subject of improving  their games via training, science, psychology and learning how to practice. The quality of the guests and teaching advice on this podcast is second to none. You can scroll through the library and I am sure you will find some episodes that appeal to you.  His youtube channel is awesome as well. 

NoPutts given: Is equal parts entertaining and informative. I think in the last few episodes the team has been gelling better and the banter is enjoyable. Also they discus MGS testings and tests.

GolfWRX: some good episodes but also many that are not of interest. Johnny Wunder needs to take some classes on interviewing.

TXG Podcast: Ian Fraser....enough said. Brlliant youtube channel on fitting and equipment.

I am more interested in playing, equipment and getting better, don't care as much what happening on the Tour.

Txg podcast has been great. Pete finch - rough cuts podcast also been entertaining. Seen on Facebook today Rick Sheils podcast will be back in a couple weeks. The callaway podcasts have been decent as well. Lots to choose from

I agree! Chasing Scratch is one of the most entertaining podcasts I have ever listened to. Mike and Eli are HILARIOUS!!! I am one episode behind on Season 3 and almost died from laughter at Mike's version of "Hallelujah."

A friend and I who are big fans of "the pod" went down to Raleigh for the listener's par 3 event and had a blast. We didn't play well, but got paired with Eli and had some great conversations.

I also listen to all of the NPG podcast powered by My Golf Spy and really enjoy the insight and information that is provided. Always good for a laugh and update of the golfing world.

Very cool -  I had planned on going myself as I get to North Carolina now and then for work, but the timing just didn't work out.  I'm in Indiana so if they have it in Kentucky the next time, it would be much closer for me.

His rendition of Hallelujah should go straight to Spotify lol.

I would definitely be in for a 2nd event in Lexington. I am actually thinking about heading down that way this fall for some hiking and golf, and might have to play Lakeside! Haha

And I agree, that Hallelujah bit by Mike was absolutely hysterical. I was listening to it while on my way to a golf outing and was dying in the car!
