txgolfjunkie
I've got an Evnroll ER7 that I had built to my specs....specs that I received from another putter company during an extensive fitting a couple years ago. The putter, when at address, wants to close down off my line. Being a lefty, the club naturally wants to align right of my target and I find myself moving my hands around to make the putter square at address. My miss is now a pull on the short putts and I'm wondering if it's the closed alignment. Is it an effective loft issue with the putter? Is it too upright? Anyone else had this problem and found a way to correct it without buying a new putter? bullldog
I hazard to guess. Maybe shaft was installed a bit off or the grip.
cnosil
Putters are designed to sit a particular way based on the relief on the sole. My guess is the putter could too flat, too upright, leaning forward, or leaning backwards. Can you manipulate the putter to a position where it sits square without having to hold it square? Don't grab the putter when trying to find the position just let it sit on your hand Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/:Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe Backup Putters: Milled Collection RSX 2, mFGP2, Futura 5W, TM-180 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
txgolfjunkie
I either have to force the putter open a few degrees or line up left of my target for the resting putter to aim at my target. The grip appears square but the putter, when I set it on the ground without taking a grip, closes down. My question was asking if there was a position you could set the putter down and not have it rotate closed. Or are you saying that there is no position that will allow the putter to sit square unless manipulated; most that I have seen that shutdown have the wrong lie or loft and need to be adjusted for my setup even though it was setup to my fitted specs. Cheers big ears
Things that I would look a : Grip not square ... Already ruled out. Putter too upright/flat depending on toe hang .... If your last custom fit was a while ago it's worth checking, even comparing it to your old one will be a decent guide. Hands behind ball (like Zac Johnson), ..... Probably worth a quick check in the mirror I would also say it may not necessarily be a negative thing, if you putt with a big forward press then you may need the putter to be closed before the press? Obviously all to be taken with a pinch of salt, but that's what I'd check? Apologies if I'm patronising!! If anyone figures out this putting lark, message me immediately! txgolfjunkie
Problem solved: I sold the putter. Ho is life. But I do think it was related to hand position being just behind the ball. Switched back to a plumber neck anser style blade with better results.
