GolfSpy_APH
The Ping invasion on my bag has continued with ping glide wedges 54*,58* making there way it. I love the cobra wedges, but the pings offer a better gap and more forgiving wedges which has helped my short game immensely As well as a new big stick. Ping g400 standard. Tested multiple times and the forgiveness is exactly what I need and more. Last round was a prime example where I shot 3 wood all round and made 20% more fairways and trotted along to a 75 (bogey on the last 3 holes) No matter what other big stick I had I never had the confidence in making fairways After 2 on course testing sessions and some time in the bay it was clear the the g400 was the proper fit for me. GolfSpy_APH
Great bag! Only problem I see is they are all backwards.. How do you like the Tyne putter? It has changed my putting forever. Won't lie when I first tried it on the course I really didn't like the sound it made, but the putts started dropping and I got use to it. Putting is now easily the best part of my game and I can't say enough good things about the Ping Tyne. The grip is also really nice, big but not too big. Previous to getting into I would say I was a average putter with 2 putting most holes and a 3 putt or more each round. Now Arcoss has my putting a +1.4 averaging 32 putts per round. Had 9 one putts yesterday and a round earlier this season with only 25. I was really happy to see it (although a slightly different version) do well on the most wanted this season. GolfSpy_APH
Now that I have some time to kill here is a little update to the WIMB and a look a what will likely be replaced over the winter.Driver: Ping G400 with Project X HZRDOUS Yellow is staying out, although I am going to get some numbers with the Epic Sub Zero.3 wood: Cobra F7 is not going anywhere and is still my trusty most reliable club.*New is a Callaway Rogue 5 wood, played 3 rounds with it and has been fantastic. Easy to work and great off the tee and turf. Maybe finally found the perfect club between 4 iron and 3 wood, although more testing with a few different clubs 2 iron, 7 wood and a hybrid over the winter will happen.Irons: Ping i210 made the cut after testing! May look at i500 4 iron... Maybe. Wedges: These will be replaced over the winter. Current ping glide 54,58. Looking at the ping stealth wedges to replace them with nipping shafts to match up with the i210.Putter: second most trusty club with the Ping Sigma G Tyne. GolfSpy_APH
Rather then starting a new thread I figured I'd update a few thoughts on this as there are several different topics I'd like to touch base on. With my season at work being both super busy and not at all I decided to take on some part time work. I applied at the local golf shop and they thankfully hired me on the spot. I wanted to get more into fittings and club repair and making and they currently only had one main guy doing it all so they were more then happy to bring me aboard. So far it has been a awesome experience and they have been more then willing to work around my curling work schedule. By not busy at all is I am only doing one facility locally where as before I would be doing 2-3. And by super busy I have done more events which means being away for 2-3 weeks at a time which is great, but also the reason why I am down to one curling club.... Anyway I have got my certifications through all the manufacturers for fitting and have regripped more clubs then I can count. It's also given me the opportunity to try out many new clubs in our bay which has been a ton of fun and learn a lot about that side of the industry.... I can't wait for the summer to hit and to dive more into it all and be able to develop some of those skills and put them to good use! This is also where my second topic comes in...Which could fit in the What equipment are you thinking about thread. I love the new Ping Sigma 2 Fetch putter. We only have the one right hand in stock, but my goodness it's awesome. When I first saw photos I thought it was kinda gimmicky and just got worth the time to really look at, but after giving it a good few trys and looking at it more closely the thing is gorgeous and feels amazing. I have no need for a new putter, but this very well could be coming to my bag. It is much small then I thought and as I said is just stunning to look at. Finally the Ping g410 Crossover... I am very happy with my setup overall and don't expect to see many big changes other then that stupid spot between 4 iron and 3 wood. I think the crossover could be that club and the new 410 again looks the part and much better then previous models... Has anyone tried one? Unfortunately being a lefty we aren't bringing any into the store quite yet and if we do I'll be trying it immediately but even our fit cart doesn't have one. They do however cost a lot! For what is basically a big iron I'd be half tempted to just got i500 for half the price. Anyway thanks for listening/reading the ramble and when the weather gets a bit nicer there will be some nice photo updated of what is in the bag to start the season! GolfSpy_APH
Not so much a WITB update which will likely coming in the next month or so, but a little story and I didn't want to make a new thread so here goes. The last month and a bit I've been traveling for work in Europe and was fortunate to end up in Scotland for 11 days. What was originally going to be golf for ice maintenance (curling ice) work didn't pan out with the timing of the trips so as much as I wanted to I didn't figure I'd get a chance to. However by chance we had a full day off in the middle and the forecast looked good for February. The local crew I was working with went above and beyond and managed to scavenge up a left handed set (a LOT harder there then home) and booked me a tee time at the Gallway Golf course in Dumfries with another curling club member who had been a member there for 30 plus years and two of their of former captains. One who had been a member for nearly 50 years. The set was a Strata something... Basically big chunky cavity backs with small grips but stiff shafts so with no expectations, especially considering I hadn't golfed since September sometime. Part of the course was closed off due to wet conditions so we went around 9 holes twice and played off winter tees but the actual greens were in use and even with all the odds stacked against me I ended up with a great birdie on the first hole. Can't say long but pin straight drive with the noisiest drive I've ever used, solid wedge to 6 feet and a putt. Didn't keep complete track of the score as I was having way too much fun, the stories they had about some of the trees they planted in areas and the work that had been done along with a former captains being The Open championship winner way way back. Even after the round going in for drinks and hearing more stories was just incredible. The history, laughs and sheer enjoyment of being back on the golf course made for a incredible highlight on what was an amazing trip. In the end I love my clubs I have and the bag I've built, but put me on a course with a set of whatever and I'll be one of the happiest guys out there. Yes it was nice to play well and it's nice to have my own sticks, but when the company and course all combine and make for a day like that it's hard to beat. This spot is always tough for me and I dont often use this club on course so maybe go hybrid? Maybe just ditch it and add a wedge? I don't know, but we will see how the numbers shake out. GolfSpy_APH
3 Wood Update: October 29, 2022 I used the new King SZ 3 wood the last couple rounds. It didn't get a ton of use on the course, but I have used it more on the range. I won't lie I am not sold on it. Performance is fine, I will not say it is a bad club at all and it is trying to replace one of my all time favorite clubs ever. The biggest different at least for me is the feel off the face. It feels kinda hollow. Yeah yeah I know it is a hollow head, but I hope you know what I mean by when I say hollow. The F7 felt strong and bouncy even. It made a great sound and had a great flight, where the face or feel off the king sz feels weaker and a bit more of a click or crack to it. However the forgiveness I do feel is better. It has yet to miss a fairway and has given me the shapes that I want out of it. The looks are great, no question there. I may look at putting the 7 wood shaft in it for a change. I don't need it to go any further than the 230ish which it goes and if I can get a bit more play out of it with the 7 wood shaft including more non tee club play then that could be worth it. I have maybe one more round left this season with maybe the chance for another 1 or 2 later in the year, but for the most part it will be range time and and top tracer so it will give me time to experiment and see how things gap and what exactly I do with that moving forward. GolfSpy_APH
Going to try my next round with the new to me putter. With really wet conditions and slower greens I think the Fetch could be right in its element. Really excited to use this putter. Incredible the difference in feel and weighting compared to the strokelab, however this has always been a putter I gravitated towards so I think it will be a good addition and may even take over top spot permanently! ejgaudette 1 Quote as of Nov 6, 2023 (Past WITB) Driver: Paradym TD w/ GD ADDI 6X Driver Shootout! I just know that upper spot is so rarely used it is kinda a waste. Or, you could get a Golden Boy 70 degree wedge https://goldenboygolf.com.au/products/product-1 This has been constantly in my Instagram ads. I feel it's gunna be in my bag soon GolfSpy_APH 1 Quote Driver: Speedzone 9.5 degree (love this club) Hybrid - RadSpeed 3 Hyrbid Irons - VGI02 5I to SW - 2024 MGS test Wedges - Hi-Toe 58 degree Putter - - MEZZ.1 MAX - 2023 MGS TEST Ball - E6 (stands for 3-putt apparently)

I feel it's gunna be in my bag soon Certainly an option, but more I think about it the more I will end up having more options top end of the bag. I am maybe too comfortable with the 58,54,50 wedge setup and adding a silly 64 or 70 may just scare me too much to ever use haha Quote as of Nov 6, 2023 (Past WITB) Driver: Paradym TD w/ GD ADDI 6X Driver Shootout!
