best bang for your buck

I'm always looking to find a great deal, and I'm sure pretty that everyone else out there is too. No one wants to spend $1100 on a new driver. I would love to hear from everyone out there on what you think is the "best value" purchase you have made for your golf bag!

 

I think mine would have to be my Odyssey V7 tank putter. Picked it up this year for $99 and it's been a game changer for me in my putting. I now the confidence thinking that anything inside 20 feet I can make.

 

Go ahead and brag on what a great deal you got on that wedge, driver, putter or what ever it is!

Out of what's in my bag now, I'd have to say the Callaway Mini 1.5, XR 16 5W and XR OS 4H .. got them off Callaway Pre-Owned when they were having one of their +50% trade-in promos.

 

They were all in Like New condition - so effectively "new"! - and with all the stuff I'd sent back plus the bonus they were almost free .. less than $50 net cost (no, not including the original cost of the traded gear).

 

But I'd had problems with the top end of my bag and all these clubs are really helping me out!!!

Spent $225 on hardly used irons, $160 total on 3 mint used wedges, $54 on a mint 3 wood, $35 on a mint 2 hybrid, $75 on a mint used R1... and $75 on a used putter. And got gifted a brand new bag.

 

Grand Total of $624, they perform the same as the new versions of all of them that would have cost me around $2700...

 

Yup. Once you hit them once they are used anyways.

The near mint Odyssey Tank #7 that I got from Joe and Leigh's for about $40...and they even put a new grip on it for me.  I was trying to channel my inner Jim Furyk with that purchase.

LOL it would have to be the Rusty Scotty or the old TM Rescue hybrid. I drive a truck for a metal recycling company so I find stuff. I think scrap was down bad when I found the Scotty and it weighs total weight at 1 lb well that is our minimum anyhow. Being an employee I got it at cost .05 threw one of my standard Royal Grip cords on it that I bought a bunch of for $2 each. I think I paid .07 for the Rescue and threw a Tacki Mac wrap on it that I salvaged off another .07 club.  My Cally 13 forged I traded a set of Miura forged TM 200 CBs for that I bought for $100. I did a trade deal for the 915 for several clubs I got Lord knows where. I traded another Scotty Newport I found you know where on the scrap pile for my Adams 3 and 5 woods. The old Vokey gap wedge I had from the old days and honestly do not know if I paid for it or got it on my Titleist deal. The old JP I did buy back in the 80s and had it speced for me forgot what I paid for it. I hustle a lot of trades etc. A lot of guys down here call my bag the Junkyard Dog Bag or the Goodwill bag

Best deals I've found while updating my set:

 

$450 for my Vapor Pro Combos (5-AW) from my local Roger Dunn. The faces looked like they had never seen a ball before I started gaming them

Best deal I have in my bag... That would be my R9 3 wood.. That I'm into for $0.00. I played league with this guy Who could not live without the Best of anything... He was looking for a new Driver So he hit the R9 Super-tri and fell in love.. He bought it and the matching 3 wood.. He played 2 rounds with the Driver, 14 drives, no range time.. Decided he hated it, asked me if I was interested for $200. It was 2 weeks old and 14 swings.. I bought it, 2 weeks later he comes to the course calls me over as he's parking and says I got something for ya.. Opens the trunk and hands me the 3 wood.. I look at him and he goes you got the driver and now the 3 wood.. I didn't care for it either.. I thank him, and in the bag it goes.. that was 7 years ago I think and it's still there, Pretty beat up but still hits well..

It's not my gamer, and I will most likely never use it, but... I did pick up a brand new Nike Method Core putter last year for about $35. It's one of the better looking putters I own, it's just too short.

I got a deal on my previous set, full Mizuno set blade iron set with Tour leather bag, and fairway woods for $700. I have since then sold the irons and bag and donated the fairway woods to a friend. I wish I would have kept the irons and just re-shafted them as they were Graphite shafts into a good steel shaft.

 

Loved the bag other then it weight a metric Ton!

I got a Callaway Razr Fit 3W out of the used rack for $10. I love it and most of the time, it loves me. My favorite part is the grip (Winn Dry tac, slightly large) that feels great in my slightly arthritic left hand. I also won a Cleveland 4h that I could not hit at all so traded a friend for his TM RBZ 3h that has also been very good to me. Another friend won a Callaway s-grind 60* that he sold me for $20 because he had just bought new wedges. All-in-all, some of my favorite clubs were gotten "on the cheap."

Well, with trade ins my new M2 cost a little over $100 so I would have to say that. But my Wilson FG Tour V4 driving iron also only cost $40 while I got each Callaway Apex hybrid off pre owned for relatively cheap.

It was my Adams Pro Mini that I picked up brand spanking new for $50. But now it's a Cobra King LTD Pro driver that I had no intention of buying. It was setting in the used club rack at the pro shop, so I took it out for 36 holes. All I can say is that driver is a fairway finding machine. $165 and I couldn't be happier

Not 100% a golf club deal, but I ran across a set of clubs on Craigslist that I got for $75 dollars. Ended up trading the clubs in at global golf and re-selling the bag. I used all the funds for a rangefinder that was $250. I paid $76.09 out of pocket including the $75 I paid for the clubs to start with.

I bought some RBZ stage two tour irons for $110 , they also came with a 52 and 56 wedge. So NEW I couldn't believe it.
