STUDque
I get beat up on the golf course every time I play. I want to see those guys get beat up too. I want to se that winning score be over par! Sent from my SM-T580 using MyGolfSpy mobile app YES! I think the courses should be adjusted to the players handicaps. It's compelling to watch guys really work hard to make par. Yes, there is entertainment value watching guys go low but I don't believe that belongs in the Opens. Both the US and British Opens should be won at -5 or less. ddryan
Agree- I absolutely love the Open Championship- and was blessed to have the opportunity to experience it first-hand in 2010, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Open Championship. (see inset image) - We arrived Wednesday of the Championship, and stayed in Dundee- across the Firth of Forth. Played Carnoustie, Castle course on the Friday they delayed the Open due to weather and wind (we played through), Kingsbarns, and on Saturday. We watched the players negotiate the Old Course on Sunday- what an amazing treat- I have marshaled at quite a few PGA tournaments (ATT Pebble, US Open at Olympic, ATT -now Quicken Loans in DC area) - the Open was different in so many ways- nobody yelling "mashed potatoes" or other ridiculous comments- and the fans appreciating the difficulty of some of the shots the players made. We had the great good fortune to be able to move into the Old Course Hotel on Monday morning, play the New Course in a soaking rain that Monday, and play the Old Course when it opened Tuesday morning (hence the photo in front of the R&A on the First Tee.) That night for dinner, we dined (16 players and 11 wives) in the conservatory of the Hotel, overlooking the Road Hole- and as an added treat, had the wonderful experience of actor David Joy channeling the Ghost of Old Tom Morris entertain us with a short history of the Open, through a very thick Scottish Brogue. Indeed, it was memories of and for a lifetime- and I am grateful not only to the group of good friends, some no longer with us, who made it happen, but also to the institution that is the Open- T'was a very special trip. Thanks for reminding me, again, of the joy of that trip! What's in the bag? Shankster
Recently the Open has been producing low scores. There's a few +'s and E's, But it usually plays under par.
