Wow!!  Well Bones was roaming the grounds at Erin Hills without a boss, maybe someone made him an offer he couldn't refuse.   I'm only partly kidding.

 

That has been one of the longest and best combinations in golf.  I wish them both luck going forward.

On the lighter note of this. I love that Bones is trying to give his yearly veto(hasn't used it this year) to Tim. But Phil says they are not transferable  :lol:

Pure speculation but guessing that Phil going to player fewer and fewer events and wanted to free up Bones for a more active top player. Anyone think DJ could use a new caddy?

Pure speculation but guessing that Phil going to player fewer and fewer events and wanted to free up Bones for a more active top player. Anyone think DJ could use a new caddy?

Very well possible.  Wouldn't be the first time it's happened.  That's pretty much how Steve Williams ended up on Tiger's bag from Greg Norman. 

 

I'm not qualified to say, but I know there are several people on tour, who I've heard say if DJ had had a professional caddie from the start, he would have 3 or 4 majors by now.   But I know he's comfortable with Austin, so maybe that makes up for experience in his mind.

Early on in his career he did have a career caddie.  His brother carried for him in an event while is his caddy was home with his new baby and the rest is history.

This is something, it will be interesting to see who's bag bones will end up on.

Some golfer sure will end up with a great caddie that knows his way around ea course.

Indeed.

Didnt phony Phils' statement say something to the affect that  'it was no one particular thing'.

Bones was at the open putting out feelers whether intended or not is my guess, and his Philness did the 'how dare you' to one as exalted as myself.

25 years is a long run, I'm going to miss this when watching golf. Hopefully if Bones decides to continue, he finds a good fit with someone and helps him win many times. It was a great run they had.
