This is an easy list for me. After I was finally tall enough to use men's clubs, I only had 2 sets before my current:

First irons I got after I outgrew my cut-down starters:

Ladies' irons - I swear the brand was St. Andrew's but I can't find anything on Google. They had Carolina blue grips I'll never forget that.

After finally growing:

Original Callaway Big Bertha Irons

Ping Eye 2

Nike Vapor Pro Combo (current)

I only used the Bertha's for about 2 years until I found a set of used PE 2s. My uncle bought them for me cheap from a friend. I had always loved the look of the Pings at address, and my other uncle played them so naturally I wanted them as well since I looked up to his game.

Roughly in order of appearance...

Macgregor JNP

Ram Tour Grind

Mizuno MP 14

Tommy Armour 845

Ping Eye 2

Cobra Greg Norman Forged

Ran FX Tour Forged

Titleist 990

Titleist762

Cobra Norman Grind CB

Taylormade Tour Burner

Ping S59 Tour

Titleist 690.CB

Mizuno MP 33

Mizuno MP 52

Titleist 690MB

Titleist 690.MB

Ping S56

Titleist 660

Titleist 710MB

Titleist AP2 710

Titleist AP2 712

Titleist AP2 716

Titleist 690.MB (again lol)

Taylormade Tour Preferred MC 2014 (present)

It's probably fair to say that the 690's are my favourites, but I never really had a club I didn't like. They all had their own subtle qualities that you have to game to appreciate. The current MC's were a surprise, but thus far have lived up to their reputation.

Hmm. The first complete set I had were a set of Dunlops purchased from Dicks. After about two months of use, the driver head flew off during a range session. Retrieved the head and called Dunlop and they sent me a replacement driver. A month later teeing it up on a tee box in front of water.. Yep you guessed it, the head flew off but this time I WASN'T able to retrieve the head so that sealed the fate of my first set.

I then picked up a set of Cleveland TA-7 irons with the micro-cavities. Played those for a few years until I saw the MP-32s. Love at first sight! Had to wait a year after they came out because the lefty model wasn't released until then. Love, those irons. But like an unfaithful husband, my eye wandered to other irons and the regret of losing such perfect irons. MacGregor Forged blades, then Callaway X-20s occupied my bag. In this case, the grass was not greener on the other side. Another set of Mizuno have since been in my bag, MP-57s. Now, the hunt is on for new irons so we'll see what will make the cut...

Doh.. Forgot bout the silverscot blades!

I will do two catagories the first is what I started with

1968 Wilson Staff Patty Berg Bullet Back blades

1966 Spalding Elite 333 custom

1972 Spalding Elite Custom Shop ground and speced for me

1962 Macgregor FC-4000

1966 Power Bilt Citation known in collector circles as 66 Horse Shoes

1980 Macgregor VIP

1990s Mizuno MP-33

2013 Callaway X Forged

That is not counting the clubs I played when on R&D for Championship golf with Infiniti and Alpha lines--

Now my collection

1941 Macgregor Tommy Armour 3800s

1962 Macgregor FC-4000 Same set been in the family since 62

2 sets of 1980 Macgregor VIPs one set is my before mentioned set

1979 Macgregor Tour Blades

1952 Macgregor Bob Toski blades

2012 Infiniti Tour Strategy Forged CB blades-- These were ground at the factory for me when doing R&D

2013 Callaway X Forged CB blades-- same as mentioned before and now my front line set

I know this is an irons thread and that is a drop in the bucket to my other stuff

Around 100 various lofts and brands of wedges

100 Putters (at least) different brands and years

Around 75 Persimmon drivers various brands

50 or 60 Various brands of persimmon fairway woods

If I count "modern metal" drivers I have only 6 shafted up ready to play but a 5 gallon bucket full of heads

Probably 30 or so older small CC metal drivers as in like the original Berthas

What I have listed is a drop in the bucket of individual stuff I have plus some Hickory shafted clubs too. I have always claimed the title of the resident club ho of MGS. I will admit I am not a drop in the bucket compared to some of the guys in the Classics Forum on WRX

Back in the day, if your driver broke and the head ended up in the water you could send your shaft into Callaway and they would replace the whole club.  I'm not sure about other companies or what its like today though.

I want MP-25s or some JPX 900 Forged/Tours soooo bad. I drool every time I see them, it's embarrassing.

Your detector is functioning correctly Stu; Santa's jolly greeting is an apt description of my vintage club stash tendencies.

Not nearly as long as my driver list.

I won't include the beginning whole bag set because I couldn't even say what brand they were.

Cobra S3 Max

Cobra AMP

Cobra AMP Cell Pro

Mizuno JPX EZ Forged (brother in law fell in love with them and bought them off me)

Ping i e1 (current gamers)

My list isn't nearly as long. I started with a set of Northwesterns I bought at Kmart. Ha ha. Then I moved into some second hand ping black dots which I had for a while but didn't play much. But in 2009 I finally got measured for a set and purchase TaylorMade R9s.

I went to Golf Galaxy last year with my R9 7 iron and hit it along side about every new 7 iron out there and couldn't find anything that felt better or really anything that I hit better, so I continue to hit the old faithful R9s.
