Can't believe I didn't see this thread before...

Sets I've played, in chronological order

  • Wilson Staff Dynapowers (hand-me-downs from granddad to dad to me)
  • Wilson 1200 LTs (the ones with the twisted shafts; hand-me-downs from granddad to me)
  • Hogan Apex '88 (granddad bought for me after I finally beat him straight up; played these for 11 years)
  • Hogan Apex Plus (first set I bought for myself)
  • Mizuno MX 200 (first set fit for me)
  • Cobra F8 (Cobra Connect Challenge ^ 2)

Classics I currently own

  • Titleist Box Blades (granddad's last set of steel shafted blades; I have the matching persimmon woods as well)
  • Macgregor Muirfield (thanks Goodwill)
  • Hogan Apex Grind (thanks @BIG STU)

I'm not sure it's a good idea to list all these, though I've done it before on other forums.  I'm not sure I even remember all of them.

I'll start with the list of what I currently own:
Mizuno MP-37
Mizuno MS-11
Ram FX Nickel Tour Grinds
Golden Ram TW276
Golden Ram TW282
Golden Ram Vibration Matched Tour Grinds
Golden Ram 1980 Tour Grinds
Golden Ram in oval (mid 70s) Tour Grinds
Ram TG-898
Pinhawk Single Length
TaylorMade 2011 Tour Preferred MC
Ping Eye2+
Ping ISI
Wilson Staff 78 Tour Blades
MacGregor Muirfields
Tommy Armour 986 Tours
Wood Bros blades (post-Wood brothers ownership clubmaker version)
Maxfli Revolution black dot

Knew I forgot a set.  Also own Purefit 1020 blade clubheads.  Largely unused, the 7i and 8i have been shafted with various graphite shafts as test clubs over the last several years.

Now the rest of the stuff.  This is what I've had in the past, that I no longer own.  I will probably forget several, I may edit later.  Starting with the starter set:
Dunlop Airfoil (sporting goods store model)
Goldwin AVDP Oversize
Tour Edge Comp 950 Lift Offs
Goldwin AVDP Tour
Golden Ram Frequency Matched Tour Grinds (my first blades)
Wilson Staff FG-17
Wilson Staff Tour Blades (line under, from mid 80s)
Golfsmith Pro Forged
Golfsmith Professional Grind blades
Palmer Original Standards
Palmer Standards, 78-84
Palmer Standards, 1985 model
Powerbilt Scotch Blades 2276
Peerless PHD Tours
Golfsmith Tour Cavity Pro
Precept Tour Premium
Precept Tour Premium (yes, I've owned two sets, kind of have a thing for them)
Ram FX Nickel Tour Grinds (different set than the ones I currently own)
Ram FX Nickel Tour Grinds (have had two sets I unloaded, and one that's still here)
Mizuno MP-37s (different set than the ones I currently own)
MacGregor PMB
MacGregor PCB Tours
Tommy Armour 986 Tours (once again, different set than the ones I currently own)
MacGregor M85

And I'm running out of steam.  I may be missing a few.  Good thing it's not all the clubs I've actually hit, we could be here a while.

The worst part of all this?  I've only been playing golf for 21 years.  I didn't start until my 35th birthday, fall of 1998.

I could have sworn I did this when the thread was originally posted, maybe I deleted for evidence sake 🙂  But I'll give it a shot, my memory is a year older, so I'm sure I'll forgot a few sets.

^ -- currently own

the MP-53s had graphite shafts in them and were a flubbed experiment; that being said I don't really count them as "owning" a set of Mizunos....I'd love to own a set some day as the ones I've hit before gave me goosebumps...

962b’s will always be my favorites. I re-shafted them three times, shot my personal best competition score, first of three aces and passed my PAT with them.

I had sets built for me by my grandpa but I’m just listing the adult full size sets. In 32 years of playing I’m at the point now where I am actively seeking a players distance iron.

... Sounds awesome! I have contemplated driving up there myself. But still, June 2024 sounds like a looooooooong way off so I will still bet you $10 which gets you $20 IF you don't buy any new clubs before then. If we are only talking about irons, I still think 4.5 years is forever for a serious player on a golf forum, but admittedly much more doable.

Well I did just get my full bag fitting at True Spec last summer so everything I have now is perfectly fitted for me.

Only way I'm getting new irons or woods before 2024 if I win them or get chosen for a testing. Wedges can be replaced in 2022.

It's tough to not want new and shiny, but it's comforting knowing I have the best fit for my game

... Obviously there is no need to "upgrade" especially your irons and although 2 years is the longest I have ever owned a set of irons, my game always suffers just a little in the short term when switching. And even driver should be fine for another 4.5 years unless a head or shaft comes along that is perfect for your particular swing, although chances of that and a marked improvement are marginal at best. I could easily put my 4 yr old Fly Z in the bag and lose very little other than some added spin. Reviewing new clubs can be a lot of fun but it is not always better for my game. Congrats on being so dialed in. 👍
