What's wrong with Bubba?

Holing out that bunker shot was awesome - just what he need to inspire him for the rest of the round.

He was pretty emotional in the interview - hope he decides not to retire after this win. He's my new lefty favorite!

I hope he wins 10 more. Fun to watch.

He was fun to watch, for sure.

Cantlay, on the other hand, almost made me turn it off. His expression always looked like he ate a turd sandwich and he was painfully slow, especially over the ball. Out of boredom, I started timing players on my stopwatch from the time they placed the club behind the ball until contact. He was routinely 15-20 secs (his "best" was 11 on a near "gimme" putt). Finau was next at 8-10. Everyone else I timed was 4-6.

What I found a bit irritating about Cantalay is his pre shot routine. For some reason the cameramen seemed to focus on his dancing feet.

Good information. I wasn't paying much attention as I was doing other things with the golf in the background. I was aware of slow pace but that's not news.

It's pretty funny that when he hits a 60 yard fade it's cool. But everyone else... not so much.

When he's on he can bend a ball. Fun to watch.

I am so glad Bubba plays in the Shot Track era. His shot traces sure are fun to watch! Hope he is back for good now as I really enjoyed watching him win today.

Just reviewing the thread and wanted to pop in to comment that a guy with one career major is not getting a HOF vote from me no matter how great a guy he may be.

Larry Nelson won three, Andy North two for gripes sake. You need to have won two at least to enter the conversation IMO and Champions tour wins shouldn't count.

HOF should be a no brainer - if there's an argument about it the guys not in.

Bubba can kid be a Hall of Famer - let's see how the rest of his career plays out.

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

I am also happy that Bubba found his way back into the game. Two lefties leading the last two PGA tournaments. I always liked Bubba's way to shape the Ball and I am not sure Volvik was the problem or other things on his mind.

It would be nice to see Phil building on his recent finishes and winning soon.

Best,

Henning

I agree with you 100% about Larry Nelson.  He had a nice career with 3 majors and 10 wins along with a very good Ryder Cup record.  He should have been a Ryder Cup Captain IMHO.  I'm on the fence about Andy North.  Sure he had two US Open wins but only one other win.  If he had won 10 tournaments like Nelson and Bubba, he would have my vote.

Bubba gets my vote now because he has 10 wins and two Masters wins.  I also think that HOF value needs to include what a player brings to the game.  Bubba is a personality that is somewhat polarizing, but his shotmaking skills are certainly top notch when the weather is great.  To complete his resume, Bubba needs to show that he can compete in adverse conditions.

Regardless of whom it may be, I'm always glad to see people playing left handed do well.   It gives me hope that I can survive in the right handed world.  I'd love to have a dollar for every time I've heard that I'm playing on the wrong side of the ball.   Perhaps, that is true, but I am playing in my right mind.

And maybe more lefty wins will get the big box stores to stock more left hand clubs and gloves! Whenever I stop by Dicks with wallet in hand I go through the clubs on display if they had some lefty stuff I might make an impulse purchase. Just sayin. ......

I always thought you guys played on the "right" side of the ball.

You have a point, I never though of it that way.   Thank you, now I can respond that I'm actually on the right side of the ball.  Now if they will only design some left handed courses, life and my retirement will be even better.

At our club we have 9 water holes and 8 out of the 9 have water on the left. Lookout slice here I come.

A lefty and proud of it!

@Kenny, I'm not suggestion that Andy North should be in the Hall of Fame. I'm saying that if a guy - Fred Couples- can't win as many majors as North, he's not in my Hall, no way, no how, not even a second thought.

For me two should be the minimum for consideration - 2 and 15 wins perhaps, 3 and 10 - something like that. Some sort of sliding scale.

It's a joke that Larry Nelson was not the Ryder Cup Captain at some point. Bad Ju Ju! I have little doubt it turned the tables in favor of the Euros. :)
