Let's say you get the chance to adopt certain skills from whichever current PGA tour players you wish. This means you can take DJ's driver, Phil's short game, so on and so forth. If you were given the power to make this happen, what ultimate player would you build?

 

Categories are:

 

-Driving

-Irons (GIR/throwing lawn darts)

-Short game

-Putting

Driver: Ping G 9.5*

Fairway: TaylorMade AeroBurner

Hybrid: Adams Blue

Irons: TaylorMade Burner 2.0

Wedges: TaylorMade Tour Preferred EF

Putter: Odyssey O-Works #1

One aspect I might suggest is the mental side of the game. Tiger was solid with this back in the day, one of those things where he could catch someone or stay in the lead on a Sunday.

I think Bubba has a lot of versatility driving the ball, and he only gives up 20 feet to DJ in driving distance...

Short Game - Ricky Fowler

 

Putting - Anyone but Rory - but he gets props for making putting relevant again. :)

 

I am surprised at the number of people who take Jordan as a putter. In his brief career he's been a very good mid range putter but a not do hot short putter. It shows you that perception matters.

Yep. The kid is 40th in strokes gained putting this year. He's a very good putter but not crazy good. Similarly, people discount the rest of his game because of it.

 

I think thats partly bc of the narratives that CBS and NBC like to push. CBS in particular.

For all those picking Spieth for the putter. Why him over someone else?

He's never actually lead the tour in putting. Last year was his best ever year with the putter and he finished a distant second to Jason Day in SG.
