OCD with irons

Ok I'll be the first to admit that I'm a bit OCD especially when it comes to my irons. Not only do I clean then but on a regular basis I use a non abrasive metal polish. Anyone else do the same?

Gotta be honest, I never clean my clubs after or before a round.

I'll clean the clubs once during the season and then a thorough cleaning at the end. Clubs stay in my car from April to October.

Yes. I clean my clubs after every round with a soft brush. Don't do polish or chemicals though, just warm water.

I clean mine after every shot.

 

But all my gamers are raw finish so they occasionally need the brillo scrub and oil rub to knock back the oxidation.

Full treatment after every season. Other than that, just wipe/brush clean after every shot.

Clean my club before hitting a shot, my routine while calculating all the outside factors in my head.

 

Funny story though. Had Ping Beryllium copper clubs in my younger days. My new bride thought she would do me a favor and polish them. I was blinded by the glare for a couple weeks until I got some blackening compound. Never had the heart to tell her.

I clean my irons before every round, really focusing on the grooves. I hate the thought of playing with a lot of dirt caked on them and taking away spin.

I clean the faces with water and a brush after every round.

 

Wipe the grips with a damp cloth and let them dry before I put them back in my bag.

 

I also just paint filled a couple of the numbers on my clubs because they came off. So yeah Tony, I feel your OCD pain brother!

I prefer forged irons, and I practice quite a bit, so my clubs get worn out pretty quickly (especially the short and mid irons). No matter what I do, they get pretty banged up, so I don't really bother with polishing. Just make sure the grooves and faces are clean so my shots are consistent.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who is OCD when it comes to cleaning clubs. Something about it is relaxing. Dog and I set up shop in the garage while I clean my clubs he stares out watching the neighbourhood.

I clean my clubs maybe 3 times a year. I always wipe them down after a shot, other than that.................

 

I clean my shoes more often.

Just a little water and towel after each round. Maybe a wire brush if I was in the rough a lot

Keeps the grooves clean. You know. Those things that grab the cover of the ball and impart spin? My dads buddy he a Vokey wedge that he wanted to give me a long time ago. "I can't make this thing spin". I took it from him, cleaned the grooves and zipped one right off the front of the green. Handed it back to him and smiled.

I clean mine after every round, toothbrush and a small amount of dish soap, the woods get a nice brush and some wax to the keep that Nike victory red nice and flashy

That's funny, I'm not mental I hit mine with car polish and clean after every shot. Have a minor scratch on my 7 iron that drives me insane!

I've never thought about polishing them with anything lol. I typically clean mine after a few rounds or so. Other than that, I will wipe them clean after every shot, especially if I'm riding in a cart with a club washer

Am alone with the on-course cleaning? I keep a brush with my towel and give my clubs a real good scrub after every single shot. As a result, I only have to clean my clubs when I want to freshen up the grips (1-2x per year). For that I use dish soap, hot hot water, and a washcloth.

So when you say clean, you mean just wipe off any dirt, or do you have cleaner in your bag and a scrub brush 😃. I think we all wipe off excess dirt. I don't consider that cleaning.

Only time I've ever cleaned a club was for resale. 😉

 

I have a golf towel with a brush attached to it, after a shot it's a quick swipe or two of the grooves, a wipe with the cloth, and that's it.

 

Just never did anything special to any of my gear in all the sports I've played, guess I treat golf the same.
