Need golf course suggestions for the Dallas area! Help me out Texas guys

Recommended Posts

Ok so in a couple of weeks I'll be heading to the Dallas/Fort Worth area for a friend's bachelor party. All of us play golf so I know at least 1 round of golf will be played on the trip.

Also, me and another buddy who are more avid golfers plan on playing 1 other round of golf.

As far as price, I need two different things. 1 in the sub $120 range and another in the sub $60 range.

I'd love something in good shape. Doesn't have to be crazy hard or easy. Although I'd prefer hard to easy. Just want to play a couple fun, nice golf courses.

Thanks for any help!

Played The Tribute a couple years ago with some MGS'ers - all the holes are modeled after British Open course holes - crapton of fun. There's also a course down the street from The Cowboys course - can't remember the name of it but it was pretty reasonable and a ton of fun. Think they have 27 holes.

Tribute sounds interesting! I'll look into that one. What was the course in DFW that you were telling me about last year? It may have been private. Honestly can't remember.

Honestly the price shouldn't really matter but I know the casual golf guys aren't gonna want to spend much.

Golf club of Dallas is a great one for sub 60, I think it's $45.

Ok so who's friends with a Colonial member? :P

Nike took us to Shady Oaks - but I don't think they have much pull there anymore

Shady Oaks was where I was thinking! Figured it was pricey/private. Thats where we were supposed to have played if "the trip" hadnt fallen through.

I just played Texas Star last week and loved the course! Lots of fun! It was $44 total at 4:15pm. It's in Euless, which is between Dallas and FW. I highly recommend it.

Close to DFW airport and we played it recently before our April outing at Sugartree. Look into Grapevine muni in Grapevine. You will not be disappointed. It's no goat ranch.

@bullldog suggested that on the first page as well and Barbajo agreed with him. If all 3 of you guys like it then I think thats a good enough recommendation for me!

My family presented me with the opportunity to buy any putter I wanted really and would love to do a bit more than just go find something at PGA Tour Superstore that I happen to like that day as that's how I bought the two putters I've used the last five years or so.
I know should probably be looking for SAM labs but if anyone has recommendations as to who or where or any other advice I'd love to hear it! Do know of Club Champion & the Southlake Golf Galaxy have the SAM lab but that's about it so far as haven't had a ton of time to research.

Ireland is spoilt for choice with world class golf courses. In fact over a quarter of the World's true links courses are situated on the emerald isle (and the other 300 or so courses aren't too bad either!!!).
From the likes of Ballybunion, and Lahinch in the South West to the delights of Royal Portrush and Royal County Down in the North, and Enniscrone and Ballyliffen on the rugged west coast which region deserves the title of being the number-one place to visit?   If you've been there; tell us what's the best in your opinion. Or if you have not been; what regions would you like to go to first?   And of course, with the Irish renowned for their warm hospitality,  let us know about any good stories from your visit...!   Thanks, Guy

      Hello MyGolfSpy

My name is Guy, Director of Golfbreaks.com. We've just joined MyGolfSpy as a sponsor and I'd like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and the company to you.

We're a specialist golf tour operator based out of Windsor, UK with offices in Charleston, SC and Copenhagen, Denmark. We have been providing golf vacations, to mainly European golfers, since 1998. Currently we sell over 2000 golf destinations worldwide and this year will send over 220,000 golfers on golf trips.

In 2013 my co-Director Daniel Grave set up our USA office to expand our American operations and bring our bespoke service (and great value vacations!) to golfers Stateside.

Our aim is to enthuse about the wonders of UK and Irish golf and encourage as many of you as possible to take a trip this side of the pond and play some iconic courses. The golf truly is great, and it is not as expensive as you might think; there are hundreds of hidden gems amongst the better known signature courses!

You can find more details about our UK and Irish tours service on our USA website at:  http://usa.golfbreaks.com

If anyone needs any advice on golf or places to stay in Scotland, Ireland, England or Wales or is planning a golf trip to Europe then we would love to hear about it.

      In the meanwhile, play well!
      Guy

I was looking at the site where jax said you could rent the Boards and saw the following......I must say, this is a nifty way to sell merch.

Anybody else see ideas like these?
