Wedgie Posted June 25, 2017 Share Posted June 25, 2017 Hey All, So I started wearing progressive lens glasses this year and never thought much of it when playing golf so I just kept wearing them. I really just need them for magnification so I like wearing them to read the scorecard. Needless to say it has lead to my worst golf in years. I've been sniffing around new irons, trying news balls, putters, you name it. Decided to lose the glasses for a couple of rounds and played my best 2 rounds in 4 years back to back. Probably because I can't see what I'm doing. I would like to see they scorecard but really don't want to mess with cheaters on the course. What do you guys do in this situation? Shankster Posted June 25, 2017 Share Posted June 25, 2017 I recently started wearing glasses. Single script or whatever the heck it's called... anyways everything is about a inch off. Everything looks farther away, like in my set up. It caused me some issues, but I tried to play without them and I had my first whiff ever!! Completely missed the ball on the inside!! I have much better depth perception now and it's easier to hit the ball. I eventually would like to go the lasik route but for now contacts are fine. Golfspy_CG2 Posted June 25, 2017 Share Posted June 25, 2017 I've been playing with progressive lens for over 15 years with no issue. Well at least none that I think I can blame the lens on. When I've tried to play with contacts since then, everything looks so small and the ball seems so far away, I make unintentional setup changes. I think you will be fine if you give it some time and stick with it. But that's just my opinon. PlaidJacket Posted June 25, 2017 Share Posted June 25, 2017 I wear no-line bifocals all day. For golf I wear a pair of Raybans of some model with the old fashion bifocal part built into the lens. You know the kind.... where you can see the magnification lens when looking at someone. At first I didn't like them and put them aside for a while. Then I tried them again and got used to them. I really don't recommend them but it works for me. Now I'm looking to get a newer pair of no-line prescription golf sunglasses but they are expensive. Such is life. What I can speak to is playing with sunglasses and the like. I found they totally mess up my depth perception even though they cut down on glare big-time. I'd rather shoot well than have the sun relief. I'd suggest you lose the glasses on the course and enjoy lower scores. The glasses will always come in handy when reading your excellent scorecard after the round. I remember the first few days of progressive lenses darn near drove me crazy. But your brain gets used to it eventually and we move on to the next thing... rbgntx Posted June 26, 2017 Share Posted June 26, 2017 I wear tri-focal progressives for my daily use. I can't swing the club while wearing them. I wear single vision transition lenses on the course. I can't read the scorecard very well but I can see the ball. Callaway Driver, 4 and 7 fairways. Mizuno 923 Hot Metal 6-LW. A friend told me my swing is as smooth as Tennessee Whiskey.
