What made the difference in your score today?

All the time I read posts about what folks shot in their round and I read, "...but I doubled two holes and bogeyed the last," or, "I played the round of my life today." So, each time I play, I know there are just a couple holes, or a couple shots, that made the difference in my score, so let's hear about what made the difference in your score today? Why'd you get that triple? What happened over the round that lead you to shoot your lowest round? It could be a couple shots, it could be a couple holes? Let us know!

Yesterday was doing very well. Best front nine of the season, no doubles or worse. Between the tee on 14 and putting out on 16 I took 21 strokes (tripled a par 3, 4, and 5)... Turned my first sub90 round of the year into a 95

I hate to give my new clubs the credit, but I was properly fit for them and it meant shot expectation was meeting with results. I was also playing with a former college player- maybe stayed more focus throughout the round.

Biggest influence to my last round was I missed a lot of greens. This put pressure on my short game and while I have improvement the short shot contact I still need to work on distance control. Didn't convert on the long putts so I ended up getting a few bogies. Distance control on irons, chips, and putts impacted my score the most

I had a real solid front, even par, but made bogey on 10 and double on 12 to go 3-over.  On 14, I pushed my drive OB.   so I'm looking at double and sinking fast.  But I hit my next drive solid, and a wedge to 4 feet, one-putt for a bogey, and all of a sudden I'm feeling good again.  Two birdies coming in for a really nice 74, but it was making bogey on 14 that changed the direction of the round.

Setup and tempo are the tools to success for me so far this year and I think I got focused on other things. I also couldn't make a putt to save my life where on the front putts were going in from all sorts of distances.

Not sure what it was. Topping, pulling, and most of the putts I didn't get half way to the hole

Played this past saturday and shot a 77 with 2 doubles and no birds!! The doubles were ridiculous really. But I did it. My game was really solid all day I thought but I just couldn't get any birds to drop.

My proximity to the hole is lacking, sigh.... so not that many legit bird putts to be honest.

My driving was awful today, but I ended up shooting a good round. My second shots kept me in the game and my putting was A+. I give props to the new MLA putter currently in testing.

Only played 9 but the new posture and hand position was working beautifully today. Not one hook. New driver was dropping bombs. Played on some slow greens and left 4 putts about 6 inches short that were right in the heart. Shot 3 over but probably shot have shot under par

Awesome thread. Today it was one main thing which was club selection. There were a couple holes (3,6,13,18) where I really should have clubbed down in order to allow for a more accessible second shot.

Hole 3 is a big dog leg right with a landing spot around 170-200 yards. Grabbed my hybrid and didn't get the draw and pushed it instead.

Hole 6 simply could have taken 3 wood over driver. It's a par 4 with a slight dip left and a hill about 230 out. Hit this hill and it will run to 150 or better. Cut it far left and left me behind some trees.

13 and I just don't get along. Par 5 and everything slopes right. Large landing area about 200-240 then narrows. Hit driver and tried to get greedy and ended up left rough with bad angles all around. Really could have take hybrid then 7 iron to 130 with a good angle down to a really accessible pin for a bird.

Finally 18, par 4 hit 3 wood but ran it through the landing area. It's another hole where a 4 irons or hybrid is a good call but when you hit one good it's hard to complain!

Anyway that's what cost me my sub 80 round today...onto the next round Wednesday with some new tactics!

Played a quick 9 today. Boy was it windyyyy! Little rough starting out, but my chipping saved me. Knocked a few in from off the green and said forget the putter.

If it wasn't for my putting on Tuesday, I would have shot over 90 for the first time in who knows how long.  Swing is a work in process due to lessons, but my putting is still there for me to fall back on.

Today in our scramble, it was holes 12 and 13. 12 was a short ish par 4 that I put the tee shot to 15 feet then drained a 25 foot downhill putt on 13. We squandered many other opportunities throughout the round but really stole some shots on those.

It wasn't just my putting. Everyone was complaining. His comment was "I didn't know they were going to be that fast" A lot of unhappy golfers. One guy said "All we need is a couple of windmills and a clown head"

Last round, I hit 5 fairways... Our course's greens is in such horrible condition I couldn't save many pars. 86. Heading to RTJ Golf Trail in Alabama this week one night after work- planning on a better round due to great greens!!!!

It's crazy because I made some putts today that were usually outside of my range. I really can't complain because the long putts I made offset the 3 jacks. I got all I could out of my round

For me, I think inside 100 yd wedge game was the difference maker today.

Hit my driver pretty well for me.  Only missed 2 fairways and those weren't by more than a yard, and my drives were longer than normal.  Strange.  Not much wind either.  I was swinging easy.  I have to do that more often.  My highlight was on the par 5 #18... my approach was just a little short in the bunker.  This was the first bunker shot I have ever hit where the ball came out perfect, hopped twice, and stopped dead 3 feet from the pin.  Usually my shots run out a little.  I wish I new what I did differently.
