Class Reunions

So today I come home from work and find an invitation to my high school class reunion. My 35th class reunion! Because I can't be that old it must have been meant for someone else.

That got me wondering, who here has gone to thier reunions, and why? For me I haven't seen any of them in at least 25 years since I moved out of state and didn't keep in contact. And frankly I'm not interested.

I'm on 20 years this fall and I'm not planning on going.  I keep up with a couple people via facebook and the one guy I'd want to hang out with (was the best man in my wedding) lives in the area so we already hang out.

 

So I zero desire to go to mine.

Heck I graduated in 1969 and have not made one yet. Like you I still keep up with many of my old school friends via facebook  or golf.

I have no desire to go to any class reunion. I would end up at a table talking to the guys I actually spend time with, and we would be discussing our last outing or up coming plans...

I went to my 5 and 10; mostly to see what people looked like since high school.   With facebook there is generally no reason to go to a reunion since you can just search for people to see what they are doing.  Don't really keep in touch with anyone from high school;  Next year will be the 35 year reunion.

I graduated 5 years ago and their is already one planned for 5 years from now. I have zero interest in seeing anyone I graduated with I don't see regularly now

Graduated in 1994 and have not been to one nor do i plan to. I keep in touch with those that I want to and that is about it.

I was in town by sheer luck for my 10th, was on the beach enjoying myself, looked over and the Valedictorian was sitting right to me. I asked her if she was going and she said her plans were to be as far away as possible as were mine.

 

If I was invited to the class one year ahead of me that all my buddies were in I'd go. But my class was a bunch of whiners, punks, drunks, and druggies.

My 40th is this summer as well. I had brief thoughts about going. Then decided is rather use that time and money for a golf weekend sometime this year.

 

As others have said FB keeps me up to date on the people I want to.

 

Last one I went to was our 20th. It was fun to see how the Prom queen looked at 38 (better than ever it turned out) and how the QB faired. Not to bad either.

 

Other than that I spent most of the night talking to one of my old neighborhood buddies.

To age myself, recently, I did not attend our 50th reunion.    The last time that I spend time with a bunch of my high school buddies was when President Nixon resigned and President Ford took office.   I was visiting relatives in Richmond and ran across a high school buddy.   He told me that another buddy was having a cook out and that I should come to see the old gang, which I did.   Just to make conversation, I asked, "what do you think of Ford."   Well it seems all I did was to spur a debate on whether Ford, Chevy or Dodge will do better at the NASCAR tracks.

I skipped 5 & 10 year reunions. I keep up friends via texts and emails. (Not a big FB user here as I just don't like all the drama that comes along with it.) My 15 year is coming up and it's at the Omni at Champions Gate so I plan on attending that just to be able to play out there at a cheaper rate.

I graduated in '09 and we were supposed to have a 5 year, but it never really got planned. There may be a 10 year, but who knows if I'll go. There are only a few I keep in touch with that I graduated with, and that's all that matters to me. There are a few friends that moved away that I wouldn't mind seeing, but idk about the whole gang.
