epsanche23
Been gaming the Taylormade TP5X ball for about 2 months now and am really liking it a lot. Long off the tee with a good solid feel. Doesn't feel too hard and performs well. Had been playing the 2016 ProV1x prior. We all know they feel great and green side control is amazing. Better than the Tp5x. I wonder if the TP5 performs better on the greens. Here's a look at the cores and inner layers of the two side by side. Pretty interesting. Sam McKean
I'd like to hear this as well for anyone who games the regular TP5 over the X I game the TP5 and honestly I love the soft top 3 covers the most. I have a relatively high swing speed (115) so you'd think the 5X would be for me. But I just like the softness and sound off the putter of the 5. It was a weird feeling having a different feeling with each group of clubs (putter, wedge, irons, drivers/woods) and once I got used to it I couldn't think of going back to the proV1. Just a disclaimer. I'm a taylormade loyalist so my bias might be shine through here but they really have made a ball worth all the chatter it's getting. PMookie
I've been playing the TP5X and I'm getting great green-side spin. I don't think I'd want more! Off of my irons, they're at least 5 yards longer than the Vision, B330, and Callaway Chrome Soft. Off of my hybrid it gets closer to 10 yards, and off driver it's about 15 yards longer carry and roll based on my on-course head-to-head. On Friday, off of the 5th tee at the public I play, it's a 270 yard carry over the creek that runs across the fairway. I normally play 3 hybrid short of the creek. I teed up four balls and only one carried the creek... TP5X, and it landed 13 yards past the Creek, in the rough, on the up-slope... No roll. The other three varied from at the edge to 7 yards short. I prefer the feel off of the Vision and well as the SuperYellow color, but why give-up so much yardage? Plus, at $29/dozen, I'd be SILLY not to play it just based on cost!!! It's a great ball!!!! txgolfjunkie
I had a driver fitting on a Foresight GC Quad and here are some spin averages from Bridgestone B330S, Titleist Pro V1X and TM TP5X TM M1 w/ Matrix Black Tie 80X. Bridgestone B330S: 2,197 Titleist Pro V1X: 2,018 TM TP5X: 1,756 I had been playing the B330S because I liked how well it did in the wind and around the green. I haven't played Titleist in years. On a whim, the fitter threw me the TP5X and I hit 7 shots with an immediate drop in spin, a higher launch of about 1.5-2% and longer carry distance. It's taken me a few rounds to get my new iron distances dialed in, especially on windy days. The TP5X just cuts through the wind...it's awesome. chisag
... I am another TP5x lover. My previous favorite was the Z Star and I really loved the 2017 version. But the TP5x is longer for me and spins just as well around the green. I feel like I have gained a good 5-10 yds or more off the tee but hard to know for sure as I have also gained yards with my Epic. The combination is giving me up to 20 yards on some holes and I am very pleased with both as I have not seen yardage gains since the SLDR was introduced. I was given a dozen TP5x so I didn't get a chance to try the TP5 and I hope to soon, but I was so happy with the TP5x I bought another 2 dozen so they should last me awhile. Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... yungkory
I just started my review for the Vice Pro+ vs. TP5x and at the moment, the TP5x is winning on the green. PokeForeLyfe
Been playing the TP5x for about two months now and from time to time I have hit other balls alongside it. It's soft enough for me, has definitely cut through wind better than the Bridgestone B330 and ProV1x and I've had no issue with it not spinning enough around the greens. It is 5-7 yds or so longer and love the trajectory. I won't be spending $50/dozen on ProV's anymore. This is a good quality ball that performs for me in all of the conditions (especially wind) I play. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
chisag
... Since I had bought Lethals from TM they sent me 1/2 dozen TP5's. For me at least it is very similar to the ZStar. It did not produce the same distance gains I got with the TP5x but it is just as long as any premium ball I have played including the ZStar. So all in all I would probably stick with the Srixon over the TP5 but the TP5x is still my gamer. Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Ventus Red Velocore 5R Fairway: Qi10 5 wood ...
