I absolutely love these golf balls. I have been using the kirkland signature which i truly enjoyed, but due to the difficulty of getting them i was looking for a good ball at a great price. I did that with the Q Star Tour. I purchased 4 dozen and glad i did.

I recently switched to these from ProV1 or Bridgestone Tour B330's on the advice of my club pro. My swing speed is just a touch lower than "tour" levels but I still have good distance numbers so that has never been my problem. I havent noticed any distance in driver distance with these but I am getting a few more yards out of my long and mid irons. Took some getting used to but loving this ball now. The thing I like best about it is that it holds its line well in the wind, which is a must for a South Texas near the coast. Given the soft feel off of full shots I expected the same on the putter, but it is a surpisingly hard feel with the flat stick. Not sure how to explain that one so glad that others have noticed as well. Now that I am used to it its no big deal now.

 

Price and durability are top notch with these as well, so this ball was a no brainer to become my new gamer.

Played 18 with the Q star tour yesterday off the driver and long irons this thing is long with mid launch, and Is a fairways locator. Liking this ball so far.

Have lost one, but have not had to replace any because of wear.

Need to get a couple rounds in, and some wedge work in for around the green.

that has been one of the most impressive things for me is the durability, other than sending a few to a watery grave I can use the same ball for 2-3 rounds.

I've used the same ball now for 54 holes. Unreal durability. Normally I wouldn't do that with my gamer ... a little Nick and I would take it out of play. But these babies are awesome. I can't remember the last time I've played with the same ball for so long. This one is becoming close to being my new gamer. Especially for the price

This might be one of the more interesting balls I've played. I really disliked chipping and putting with this ball at first but now, Wow! I have 4 rounds on the first ball and it only has 2 knicks in it and that's after a cart path and a few trees.

I had the same concerns with chipping and pitching in the first few rounds. But I've gotten used to it now and I love it

I was crushing putts passed the hole too. Now today I couldn't get the ball to the hole .... go figure. HA!

I've played about 6 rounds with these balls, and overall I'm I'd say they are performing well.

 

Not as long off the tee or long irons than what I'm accustomed to with the TP5x, but definitely as durable, if not more. They essentially perform the same around the greens (20 yards and in) as the TP5x, but on those 50-90 yard wedge shots where I'm trying to flight a 58°, they perform a little bit better than the TP5x. 

 

The one gripe I do have about the ball is that It is almost too soft off the putter face. Makes it difficult to judge distance control when I don't feel like I'm hitting the ball. 

 

Overall, it's a good ball, especially for the price. More to come with stage 2, but just my initial thoughts.

Good info here guys, thanks for all the comments and results.  

 

Srixon has had a couple ball days at our course the past month, where they were selling all the lines at 50% off, so that made a dozen Q-Stars $10 and a dozen Z-Stars $20.  I picked up a dozen of each and have been alternating them along with my usual ProVX.

 

The Q Star has performed very well in all regards.  Not quite the zippity zip I get from the Z Star on wedge shots, but certainly more than anything else in that price range that I can recall. 

I agree with the durability issues.  These balls seem to take a beating and show very little signs of it.

The only issue I have with them is the roll out from 50 yards, and in with wedges.

But after a little while I got used to the roll out, and stared to play it.

Great 3 PC for the price.

I had the same issues at first but at least the roll out is predictable. Actually helps on chips where before I would sometimes spin too much and not get it to the hole.

Have you hit the cart path? Thats my one negative they seem to really get damaged by the path

 Ive had the exact opposite issue, it really seems to be sticking to the green, less than 5 yards of rollout

I've hit cart path a few times and I would say that the damage was on par if not slightly better than when I hit path with my Chrome Soft.

To be fair, I don't think any ball holds up well to hitting rough concrete at 100+ MPH.

I was going to say the same thing.  These don't apparently like being lost though ... I'm still playing with the same ball.  I still have 3 sleeves left ... still working on the first sleeve of balls.  With the exception of a ball I gave a buddy of mine who promptly hit it over 300+ yards into the woods & lost it .... I haven't lost one!  HA!

I have hit a path twice and a railroad tie. In my stage one you can see the scrape, it looks bad and I didn't like looking at it but it still performed very well.

Understandable, maybe Im catching the path wrong but mine seem to be scuffing bad, or if I hit a tree more damage than Im used to

I'm looking forward to trying these out vs the Taylormade Project A's I'm currently gaming as the price point is considerably cheaper. Seems from what I've read so far is that it should be pretty identical in performance and durability (found the A's have excellent durability and have good spin into the greens)

Before the heat beat me into submission last weekend, I got in another few holes with this wonderful ball.  Very first hole, 2nd shot from the fairway, 9-iron hit the flagstick (clang could be heard from down in the fairway as we could not see but the top of the flag.)  Zipped off the flagstick, all the way back off the front of the green.  Hole #8, hit another flag from the fairway with the same 9 -iron ... this one stayed right next to the flag .. foot & half away!  What I really like about this ball is the nice sound it makes off the irons & the trajectory is perfect.  Nice boring trajectory that just never seems to leave it's target.  No sidespin whatsoever ... it's on a laser as long as I put a good swing on it.  The sound is not too loud but not overly soft either (if that makes sense).  

I have the utmost confidence when standing over a shot now that I know as long as I put a good swing on the ball, it's going to go where I'm aiming it, with no question.  I am pretty sure I have found my new gamer.

Ok, so I skimmed a little through all your reviews. First great job. Second I was mostly focussed on durability because on a golf trip in June I found a QStar and played it. It seemed great. I figured I give them a try. I bought some and the durability didn't seem the same as the one I found. After one shot I took with my 9 iron, I found pieces of the ball in the grooves. Up till then this ball had only gotten wet from the grass. So I was disappointed. Your reviews seemed to like the durability. No one had any similar problem like mine?
