poprocksncoke
Stephen Curry to play in the Web.com tour event in the Ellie Mae Classic. http://www.nba.com/warriors/news/curry-ellie-mae-classic-20170628 Seems like people are split on their thoughts about this. It has the opportunity to grow the game, Stephen has a lot of fans out there and is a pretty good golfer. What do you think? SLDR 10.5 Oban HB R11s Rip Phenom Ft. PMookie
I don't understand exemptions, so not sure what info is correct. If he is taking a spot from a guy trying to make a living, I'm against it. I'm against it if in anyway his entrance could have an affect on a player making money. If his entrance has no affect, I'm all for it. GolfSpy_APH
I think it's great. Could bring some new fans to the sport and he's a good golfer so he will hopefully do well. Hard to argue it's going to hurt to have him playing in it even if he does have a poor showing. Not sure if anyone saw his Ferhety episode but he definitely has a passion for golf and it was a pretty good episode as well. ole gray
We went to a Champions Tour event at Sugarloaf in Atlanta a few weeks back. It had John Smotz, Tom Glavine, & Kevin Butler playing in it. It was cool to watch a couple of past Braves players and a Georgia Bulldogs kicker for a few holes. They had game too, especially Smotz! Curry and his family get SO much publicity and they have such a huge following that I think this is the best exposure possible. geez2323
My opinion is that it can only be good for the game. I do see the point of taking a spot of a pro. Curry playing can only help put golf in front of fans and kids that may not be exposed to what a great game it is. Getting the youth into and involved in the game is the future. Will be a great draw for the tournament and bring in extra money for the charity. Other than your die hard golf fan not many casual or new fans are going to web.com events. Will be interesting to see how he does. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Kenny B
It's a sponsor exemption, so they can invite anyone they want. I'm sure he will be a big draw and great for the charity. My question is Will he be playing as a pro or amateur? When will Tony Romo make his debut? “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

TR1PTIK
I'm excited for him to play. The guy's got game and he'll draw crowds. Even if it puts an actual Web.com player out for a week, it's still one guy for one week. And if this supposed player is so bad that he won't have a spot because of Curry then the decision will probably have little bearing on his career trajectory - at least this season. yungkory
The guy sitting out for Steph wouldn't have the opportunity to earn money if it weren't for sponsors. Kenny B
Look at it this way... A guy that probably nobody knows gets an exemption. He needs that exemption because he didn't qualify by other means. Getting the exemption might only benefit him, if he makes the cut. By giving the exemption to Curry, he attracts large crowds and people will follow him. More tickets are sold, and that benefits the charities supporting kids in the Bay area. I think the sponsor has their priorities right. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
