(4) TESTER ANNOUNCED: KBS TOUR Prototype Hybrid Shafts

Recommended Posts

Our Sponsors

Huge fan of KBS shafts!  I'd love to put these through their paces all summer and fall here in the Seattle Area.

- Brandon, Seattle, WA

- Adams Proto 22 with Aldila Black stiff,  Cobra F7 with Fujikara Pro Stiff

- I probably need Stiff 85 gram in cobra, 85 or 95 gram in Adams.

- I have good distance but tend to pull them into a bit of a hook, mores than any of my other clubs.

John Shuff from Mississippi

Ben Hogan 20 & 25 degree hybrids, both with UST iRoD 75 gram F4 (S) shafts

I was custom fit for them but they are the Company's standard specs for the respective lofts.

Having these be a little shorter than hybrids from other companies makes them very easy to hit very close to straight when I swing within myself.

- Duncan Castles, Western Cape

- KBS steel hybrid shaft, R flex with Wishon 775HS heads 18, 21 + 25 degrees.

- Custom fit by Golf Science

- More consistent with hybrids than 5 iron with fewer big misses. Heads work well from a variety of lies, including bunkers. Generally struggle for trajectory with 18 degree hybrid. Sometime hit 25 degree hybrid too high.

Really like the KBS steel hybrid shafts, which perform better for me than the graphite shafts they replaced. Am therefore intrigued to compare them head-to-head to these prototype shafts.

I have two hybrids in my bag

- Taylormade RBZ Stage 2 Tour 18,5 deg. Shaft Rocketfuel Stiff

Swing speed 102/105 mph.

I have a great distance with my hybrids but sometimes i hit hook/pull-hook

My trusty Ping G10 with UST (black, yellow, white one) I can't remember the model, 23 degree and stiff.   I also have a Mizuno JPX 900 3 Hybrid 19 degrees with Speedster 757 Stiff.

The only clubs in my bag that were not custom fit.

Strengths, I hit my G10 215 and straight, it is my go to club when I need a 205+ yard shot.   Lately I have been hitting it too high but that is me, not the club.   My JPX 900 is loooooonng.   I can carry it 240 when I need to but the ball flight is very low, I am looking to get this up a bit.   I also tend to snap hook it a bit but again, I think that is pilot error (isn't it all).

I have been carrying hybrids since Orlimar came out with them and have found them to be one of the best additions to my bag over the years,  I have tried several other 2 and 3 hybrids over the years without much success but am enjoying the Mizuno and been gaming it a lot lately.

Would love to try these shafts and see if they can provide the consistency that my irons have with KBS Tour shafts.
