downlowkey
I never gave the immense atmospheric electricity generated by mixing weather systems the respect it deserved until the day every hair on my body suddenly stood at attention. The sound, light and power I experienced next left me unable to hear, see or think straight for the next 10 minutes. I was very fortunate the strike narrowly missed me. Many golfers have not been so lucky. These days, all my gambling buddies know when the sky starts to rumble, up or down on the betting sheet, downlowkey makes a beeline for shelter. STUDque
I'll play through basically anything. Once you get soaked, you can't get any wetter. Last year I had to play 2 league matches in the rain (1 in the playoffs) and I had the mental edge big-time. My opponents did nothing but complain about the rain which led to bad shots they could complain about as well. Luckily it was just rain both times and no lightning. jhellrung
This. I once went golfing and had a similar experience. Such a scary day and one I won't soon forget (or repeat). poprocksncoke
Played in the rain many times, as long as its not a heavy rain and no lightning. We played in a tournament one time at a course that was right next to a 2 lane highway. It was raining pretty steadily with gust of wind. It was tough conditions that day. One of the players I was with sat down their umbrella to hit their shot. A big gust of wind appeared, last we saw of that umbrella it was headed down Highway 46 SLDR 10.5 Oban HB R11s Rip Phenom Ft. Shankster
I'd like to say never... but Lightning also scares the out of me. Some of my best rounds are when it's raining. My season is so short, so as long as it isn't downpouring, a tornado, 50+ Kt winds... I'm there. I've played when it was 22° out. Kenny B
It doesn't rain a lot here (but I guess it did last Monday), but if the forecast is rain, I don't go. If it rains while on the course, I'll keep playing because I know it won't last very long. We don't have a siren for lightning, but if we do get some unexpectedly, the club sends out a cart to get people off the course. I usually draw the line at going out when it's above 108*, but I will go out even if it's below 20* if the course is open. I also quit when the wind blows more than 40mph. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
