cksurfdude
Not a scoring milestone, but .. hit most of the fairways in a 9-hole round and .. importantly for me .. that included a few solid shots with a driver (and - a rental set driver, no less)! Looking forward to reporting more good news as this season progresses. kingcscott, MattF, bens197 and 1 other 4 Quote WITB of an "aspiring" play-ah ... cksurfdude
OK! I can *finally* post in here.... But first... the disclaimers: - short, relatively easy course - 9-hole Par 35; 2,624 yds from the Forward tees; 65.1 / 110 Finished @ +7 .. better than bogey golf!! (...which has been my continuing quest the past few seasons) 4 Pars .. 4 GIRs 3 Bogeys 2 Doubles No penalties (finished with the same ball I started with!) 1 x 2-chip 1 x 3-putt Didn't count fairways hit but was in, or was just on the side of, most of them - including one astoundingly lucky "tree wedge" on the one Par 5 where I pushed my tee shot right .. right into the tops of the trees .. and was looking for it to drop into trouble but instead it got thrown out into the MIDDLE of the fairway! Lost like 1/2 the distance on the shot but I will take that! (Note to self: make a contribution to the National Arbor Foundation.) Ended up with a bogey on that hole after I chunked my 100 yd approach and still had to chip on. One of the Doubles was not "bad" shots but the second and third there were just not good enough .. and then I 3-putted on top of that. Second Double was definitely attributable to three bad shots and ball still not on the green.... But today's round actually follows up a previous 'better than bogey golf' 9-hole round two days ago, where I finished a shorter, easier course @ +8, so I had to have this second one in the bag to "claim it" Whoo-hoo! fozcycle, sirchunksalot, downlowkey and 4 others 5 2 Quote WITB of an "aspiring" play-ah ... Retrop
Had never broken 80 in a tournament round. Last round of the high school season. Was +4 on a par 72 through 17. Last hole was a long par 4 with an approach over water to a narrow green. Kaplack
I broke 60, Yeah 60 2 years ago, I shot a 59. Ok it was on a par 64 but, it still counts in my book. I actually wasn’t thinking about while I was playing because I don’t play the course much (Kissena in NYC) and didn’t know what Par was until I looked at the card after the round. Also I birdied the last 3 holes making a 25 footer on the last hole and hit a wedge to 1 foot on 17. So it wasn’t like I could really think about breaking some barrier with a couple holes to go. palvord, cksurfdude, Tom the Golf Nut and 1 other 3 1 Quote WITB: Driver: Taylormade SLDR Fujikura XLR8 61 S RH. 3 Wood: TaylorMade RBZ 3W Hybrid: Ping G400 3 Hyb 19 degree S Irons: Titleist 710 AP1 5-PW Aerotek Steelfiber i110 cw S RH standard lie Wedges: 50 Callaway MD 4, 54 Vokey SM5, 58 Callaway Forged Putters: Ping Grayhawk Putter
Tom the Golf Nut
The first big memory was breaking 80. Four of us were heading down to Myrtle Beach on Saturday for a week. Friday nigh I stayed out a little to late and had a little too much! Had an early am flight from NY to Myrtle Beach. Straight off the plane to the golf course. We played the Wizard. I was jet lagged and recovering from the night before so my swing was as relaxed as could be. On the last hole all I needed was a bogey to break 80. But I didn't know it . I wasn't keeping the score card or keeping up with my score mentally. As soon as the putt fell they were all cheering and told me I shot 79. I have since broken 70 once last year but the 80 was a big one for me. I went into the pro shop and purchased a logo hat to remember the event. ejgaudette
The round that sticks out the most is when I finally broke 80. I had been playing a bunch in high school and had gotten closer but always had that one shot that ruined the round. Finally, on a Sunday morning playing with my Dad and our neighbor at the time (who we played with very often) on our home course at the time it happened. As any good round like this should it started with a solid tee shot to 90 yards and I stuffed the shot to a few feet for an easy birdie and the round rolled from there. More specific shots don't stick out currently except that I was just solid throughout the round. Lots of fairways and green, despite all this the last few holes were nerve wracking for sure. Walking off 18 after that last putt dropped I could not have been more excited. I think I still have the scorecard in my bag somewhere. cksurfdude and cnosil 2 Quote Epic Max LS 9° Ventus Blue 6X (2021 Official Review) | Epic Speed 18° Evenflow Riptide 70g 6.0 816 H1 21° Diamana S+ Blue 70 S | SMS 4-5/SMS Pro 6-PW Steelfiber i95 S (2023 Official Review) Glide 4.0 50°.12°S/54°.14°W/58°.6°T PING Z-Z115 Wedge Flex | SOFT 11S Super Stroke Mid-Slim 2.0 Hoofer Bag | Pro V1 | Right Handed | Tracked by V3

cksurfdude
Not a major milestone, but hit two intermediate mileage markers - scored a clean 45 on the second 9 of the day on a pretty good course - thanks in large part to a par on the last hole .. which was thanks to an up and down from a greenside bunker That finishing hole has been one of the more difficult for me .. hit a solid tee shot to the left side of the fairway, a not so solid but straight second shot that made a beeline for the left greenside bunker pin high, pulled off a nice touch escape with the ball rolling towards the pin and then nailed the putt right in!! fixyurdivot, MattF, Kenny B and 4 others 6 1 Quote WITB of an "aspiring" play-ah ... Popular Post jtgavigan
Broke 70 for the 1st time Saturday after playing 39 years. Starting really working on my game and trying to break this barrier last spring. Herniated a disc in my neck which kept me out for 3 months, but finally got it done. I have a post about it on here somewhere. chisag, ejgaudette, DaveP043 and 10 others 10 3 Quote Titleist TSI3 8°, Xcaliber Avalon 6 tour stiff, tipped 1", C3 surefit and H2 for backweight, D1 SW, 45 3/8", 40g counterbalance weight; PING G425 LST 3 wood, set at 13.5° Xcaliber T6* tour stiff, tipped 1 1/4" 43 1/2", D1, 20g counterbalance weight; Snake Eyes 19° Quick Strike Tour, Xcaliber T6+ Tour Stiff, 20g counterbalance weight; Maltby TS-1 irons, Modus 120x soft stepped once, D5, 2° flat; Cleveland RTX Zipcore wedges, black satin, 50°, 54°, 58°, all 2° flat; Ping TR series Anser 5, 33", 2° flat, 1.5° strong, 75g optivibe at 2" down the shaft and a 12g tourlock pro+ counterweight Srixon Z Star XV, TP5X, or Maxfli Tour X

pakman92
It's definitely breaking 70. Which will happen next year. OH and it's going to be glorious when that birdie putt drops on the 18th for a round of 69. Good times will be had.
