arobledo1293
Rick Shiels just got around to reviewing the project [a]. His findings accord with my experience, that it's a really good ball at a second-tier price: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLO2GfobOcQSaw this video. I really enjoy his videos. Finally played a round with the project As and the feel really good of my irons and wedges. Hard to tell off the tee but it was the most accurate I've ever been off the tee. I usually miss it right but I hit 85% of fairways dead center with them. Idk if it's the ball or some swing changes I've been doing. They spin really well on the greens as well. Stopped quick. Berg Ryman
So, cleaned out the bag this weekend of the balls used in 2017, looking ahead to 2018 and my ball inventory is as follows. 2 Dozen Maxfli U6-LC, with custom messaging "Is Ryan Bergman Even A Pro?" on the side 3 sleeves of Srixon Q-Star Tours 3 sleeves of Callaway Hex Chromes 1 sleeve of Wilson Duo Soft 1 sleeve of Top-Flite Gamer Tour Also possibly in play but likely not because of personal reasons: 1 sleeve of Titleist Pro-v1 with my high school team logo on it, 1 sleeve of Maxfli U6-LC with custom messaging, 1 dozen Callaway SuperHot with 2015 Club Champion stamped on them. May add some more sleeves for cheap if I can find them because one day that Maxfli stash is running out and I'll need a new ball. BTW, if anyone wants any of those Hex Chromes, I'm willing to send them to you. Not my favorite ball and I'd be happy to move them to someone who may actually use them. May donate them to the First Tee or sell them to my other golf playing friends to divy up. Please do donate some to your local First Tee. If yours is anything like the one I volunteer at, we can never have enough balls. Especially if you leave them in the packaging (we can hand them out as prizes). We also take loose, unpackaged and used balls. I can't understand why people buy new when you can basically buy new for 1/4 of new price. It's just a waiting game for the weather to get better so I can try these out. ... The only problem with used is you really do not know where they came from. A slightly scuffed lost ball in the woods? No big deal for a refinish. But if it has been sitting at the bottom of a lake, which many of them have been, there is a good chance it has lost some or a lot of performance and balls will perform differently. For a bargain, I like to play Practice balls that are a cosmetic reject and usually you can't even find that flaw. But performance is identical to new. Playing in Orlando at unknown courses and on very windy days it is easy to lose balls. I hit a big drive over a bunker cutting the dogleg and was surprised to find a big lake right where I hit it, unseen from the tee. So I picked up 2 dozen Prov1x practice balls for $50. I just drew a black magic marker line thru PRACTICE and it looks like an alignment aid. revrex, Flipper554, Rickp and 1 other 4 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Time to do a lot of reading throughout this thread. That's more-or-less what I do every 4-5 months as there are some damn good balls out there!! Over the past few years, I've been using balls from 7 manufacturers - Wilson Staff FG Tour, Taylormade TP5/X, Titleist Pro V1/X, Vice Pro, Srixon Z-Star/XV, Callaway ChromeSoft, & Forte Tour Performance S. Of the 7, my favourites have been the Vice, Srixon & Wilson Staff, but I did enjoy all of them, and I encourage everyone to go for balls from manufacturers you might not regard as good ball manufacturers (e.g. I've found TM's balls over the last few years have been lacking in feel, until the TP5 showed up!) as you might surprise yourself.
