With a 100 mph driver swing the XV was a little too firm for me and I did not compress it as well as the ZStar but for those with a little higher club head speed it is just a crazy good ball. mdumble21
Give Forte balls a try and the callaway chrome soft take some beating, srixon ad333 tour are great balls too Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Back in 2017, I got sent a 2-ball trial pack by Forte for a few of their models - Apex 6, SS3, Tour Performance S & their Prototype (now the Tour Trajectory). The Apex 6 performed extremely well on the course - long enough off the tee, spun heaps off approach shots & chips, but felt very firm off the club face. Tour Performance S was brilliant - awesome around the greens, off the tee, and felt great. SS3 was okay, but it's meant for someone needing a distance ball (think Srixon Distance). My grandfather enjoyed the ball though. It's great that all these "guerilla" ball companies (Peter Finch coined the term) have started producing some awesome balls - Snell MTB, Vice Pro, etc. This means that you don't have to pay premium for a Pro V1-esque ball! tony@CIC
Having tried a lot of different golf balls I've settled on the taylormade tp5. Found the x a little too clicky off the putter and spin was a lot less with pitch/chips. I find them great for consistent distance control and better than any ball I've tried into the wind. DatNikeGolfDude
I currently play the Nike RZN Black ball. Stock piled them up while I could but I only play them when I'm playing real golf against some buddy's but mostly in tournaments. Other than that I got a bunch of Titleist practice golf balls I use. null
Really enjoyed the Srixon Z Star I played today. Played it for 18 holes in windy conditions and I didn't notice any real difference off any clubs between the z star and tp5x. The z star feels a little softer throughout the bag. I have 4 dozen TP5x left, but I could see myself switching to the Z star if the price on the TP5x doesn't come down. chisag, PMookie and Sluggo42

Daniel.farish
I play the Wilson Duo Soft. They're long for me, and they feel great around the greens. For me, it performs better than, dare I say it, the Chrome Soft. I even have a few 300+ yard drives with it (some with a bit of cart path love, but 300 is 300, amirite?) I recently started using the Duo Soft Optix in both orange and red. The matte finish looks like it's glowing on a sunny day. They stand out when you miss the fairway (more often than not for me as a 17 handicap). I'd say it's a great ball for the money, but really, it's just a great ball. Colcur
I just started playing in March of this year after a 23 year layoff. When I started I was not sure what ball I wanted to play, fit my game, and felt best. I tried ProV1, ProV1x, Chrome Soft, TP5x, and Tour Soft. I eventually settled on the AVX. It seems to work best, fits my game, and feels right. I get good distance with it and I like them around the green. TR1PTIK
I recently received an order of 6 dozen Snell MTB Blacks after bouncing back and forth between ProV1/V1x and Vice Pro/Pro +. I've only got one round in with the Snell and it didn't go particularly well so I'll save judgement for now. Can't go wrong with either of the Vice models though. Aside from the matte finish that seems to discolor easily, I like them just as well as Titleist. The new AVX has piqued my interest though so I'll need to purchase a sleeve sometime and give those a whirl. The new Chromesofts with graphene are interesting - I've not tried them yet, but would certainly be interested in hearing about them. Outside of that, Cut golf balls have been getting some decent reviews on the forum, and I don't think I've heard to many people gaming the Nicklaus golf balls. There's plenty out there to choose from... ksgolfer141
Been playing a combination of Pro V1, Pro V1x and TP5. A few years ago I bought like 100 Pro V1/V1x's off ebay so still trying to use them up. Had a gift card to Dick's sporting goods earlier this year so bought a box of the TP5's. So far I've like them. Once I run out of everything, I will probably try a few other options out but so far no complaints with the TP5's.
